Carsyn’s POV
I woke up Saturday morning to Payton running into my room with my phone, ringing. “Carsyn! Your phone is ringing!” she announced.
“Thanks Pay.” I replied as she ran out of my room. Macy was calling. “Hello?” I asked a little to groggy while sitting up in my bed.
“Oh. I’m sorry Carsyn. Did I wake you up? I’ll go.”
“Macy it’s ok. Good morning.”
“It’s one o’clock Carsyn.”
“Damn, really? I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok.” I could hear her giggling to herself. “I was wondering if you would like to go on a picnic with my family. Carson wanted Payton to come, so I thought both of y’all would like to go.”
“Yeah, that’s good. I’m watching Payton today anyway,” I replied. “What time?”
‘1:30, and wear messy clothes, Payton too.”
“Sounds good.”
“Bye Carsyn.”
“Bye.” I crawled out of bed, and walked down the hallway to Payton’s room. She was standing in the middle of her room waving her wand at her innocent stuffed animals. “Hey, Payton, do you want to go on a picnic with Carson and Macy today?”
“Yes!” she replied and ran into her closet to change her clothes.
“Ok, be ready in 20 minutes.” I said chuckling to myself. Twenty minutes later a black suburban pulled into our driveway. “Payton! Come on they’re here.” She came running down the stairs and out the door before I could catch her. I grabbed my keys and walked out the door. Macy opened the door and walked over to me. She was wearing dark skinny jeans and an Abercrombie t-shirt.
“Hey, stop drooling! My dad wants you to drive me there.” She said.
“Oh, um, ok. Let’s go.” We walked into my garage and I unlocked my truck, we climbed in, and I took her small hand to mine intertwining our fingers. “Did you sleep well?”
“Yes, I did. Did you?”
“Yeah, I had sweet dreams of you. Where are we going exactly?”
“Uhm…some park that my dad likes. Oh, my dad hates PDA, so don’t hold my hand or anything.”
“Ok, I guess. Will he ever get used to it?”
“Yeah, eventually; my dad is very over-protective.”
“Interesting, why didn’t your dad let me ride with y’all?”
“He knows that I like to warn anyone that I take with me. He never lets them ride with us.”
“Oh, wow. Maybe he’ll like me?” I ask skeptically.
“Carsyn, my dad doesn’t like anyone. You’ll be lucky if he come close to liking you.”
“Oh, ok, so it’s hard to win your dad over?”
