Emily watched as yet another piece of Bruce's hair fell to the ground into the pile of hair that had already formed there. "Not too much back there," Bruce said as he stared at the pair of scissors that was in Emily's hand.
Emily chuckled and said, "I have done this before, you know." She snipped off a few more pieces before muttering, "I don't know how you have done this on your own all this time." "With clippers, usually," Bruce told her.
Emily chuckled in response as she took her scissors and evened out the rest of his hair. She then put the scissors down on the table with a smile on her face.
Finally, she ran her hands through Bruce's hair, trying to get the pieces that had been cut, but were still on his head, off. Her eyes flickered up and looked at Bruce through the mirror that was in front of them. His eyes were closed and he sighed slightly at the feeling of Emily's hands running through his hair.
Bruce always did love it when she ran a hand through his hair. Her touch was just so gentle and soft. Sometimes he even thought that it was a loving touch, but he didn't want to bring his hopes up too much, so he always tried to get rid of that thought as soon as it appeared.
Emily finished running her hands through his hair and then tugged on Bruce's ear softly. Bruce smiled and his hand instantly flew up to catch her hand in his own. He held onto her hand gently, both of them trying to ignore the electricity that seemed to be running between them.
Emily smiled and then looked at Bruce through the mirror. His eyes flickered up and met hers and her smile faded. She immediately bent down and wrapped her arms around Bruce's neck, hugging him tightly. Bruce reacted instantly and both of his hands reached up and held on to her arms while he rested his head against her own.
The two stayed there like that for a second before Emily whispered, "Thank you." "For what?" Bruce asked, not daring to break the hold the two had on each other. "I don't know. For saving me. For being there for me even though you've been gone these past five years," Emily said. She then paused before whispering, "For being you."
"For being me?" Bruce asked a little surprised. Emily nodded her head and placed a small kiss on Bruce's shoulder, making him shiver. "For being you," Emily whispered again as she placed another small kiss on the bottom of Bruce's neck.
The two don't know what was happening, but they both knew that there was something different going on between them. They could both sense it. They could both feel it.
Maybe that's why Emily suddenly had a boost of confidence and kissed Bruce's neck and then up to his jaw and his cheek. Each time she moved, Bruce's face would move ever so slightly so that their faces got closer together.
Emily's lips brushed softly against the side of Bruce's face and Bruce fully turned towards her. The two stared at each other for a second and both leaned in. Bruce's lips brushed against her own before he leaned forward and pressed their lips together.
Emily's head went fuzzy. She couldn't even think as Bruce's lips moved against her own. She could only feel and all she felt in that moment was Bruce and the love that she had towards him. His hands had let go of her arms and had instead started pushing himself up until he was now standing with Emily in his arms.
The two kissed each other with all of the love that they had been harboring for years. Every stolen glance, every small touch, every moment the two had ever felt something towards the other was put into this one kiss.
After a moment, Bruce pulled away so that their breaths were mixing together, but there was still room for him to talk.
"God, I love you," he whispered against her lips and Emily felt her heart flutter.
"You love me? Still? Even after all of these years?" Emily asked. Bruce only nodded, placing another kiss on Emily's lips in the process. "Yes, Em. Oh dear god, yes," Bruce muttered as he continued to pepper Emily in kisses.
"I could never stop loving you. It's impossible," Bruce whispered. Only then did he open his eyes and his old nervous self seemed to come back. "D-do you love me?" Bruce asked nervously. Emily could already hear the sadness that was laced in his voice and she felt her heart lurch for him.
"Of course I love you, you big green idiot," Emily said. Bruce scanned Emily's face for any signs of her lying. "You love me?" Bruce asked in astonishment and Emily only smiled at him. "Yes, Bruce. I love you," Emily said and Bruce instantly pressed his lips against her own.
The two found themselves stumbling backwards as Bruce guided them towards the bed. Neither of them could hear the beeping that was starting to come from the watch on Bruce's wrist, signaling that his heart rate was increasing. All the two could focus on was each other and the feeling of finally being able to showcase their love for one another.
Bruce pulled away from Emily for a second as he placed her down on the bed and asked, "A-are you sure?" Emily only smiled at him and whispered, "I'm sure." Bruce kissed Emily again and in between kisses, Emily muttered, "I'm yours."
Bruce smiled into the kiss and brought Emily's body closer to his. His hands were roaming her body as hers did the same. Their lips left each other's for a moment as Emily started to kiss Bruce's neck.
It was only then that Bruce started to hear the annoying beeping noise that was coming from his watch. He looked over at the watch and tried to focus on what it was beeping for, but with Emily holding and kissing him like she was, his brain was going all fuzzy and it was getting harder to think.
He finally realized what it was saying and his eyes widened as he pulled away. Emily looked up at Bruce with a confused and hurt look on her face. "W-we can't do this," Bruce whispered. "It's okay, Bruce. I already told you that I want to," Emily assured him.
"No. No," Bruce said as he shook his head sadly. "I can't." Emily gave him a confused look and placed a hand on his cheek. Bruce immediately pushed it off and held it instead before he whispered, "I can't get too excited."
Emily immediately understood what he was saying and nodded her head in understanding. "Not even a little excited?" Emily finally asked and Bruce sighed before leaning into Emily's touch.
He then wrapped his arms around the girl and she immediately felt bad for what she said. "I'm sorry," Emily whispered and Bruce shook his head. "You're okay. It's not you, it's me," Bruce muttered in frustration.
Emily frowned and forced Bruce to look at her. "Hey, it's okay. We don't need to do that. I'm okay with not doing it. As long as I have you, that's all that matters," Emily assured him.
Bruce stared at Emily for a second before kissing her softly and then resting his head on her shoulder. "I love you," Bruce whispered, his grip on her tightening as he said it. Emily smiled and ran a hand through Bruce's hair as she stared at him lovingly.
"I love you too."
