Annabella is a 15 year old coloured girl who has spent the majority of her life in and out of foster homes and though the doors of many adoptive parents. What if this is the last place she has to move to?
"Annabella, can you please come here, we need to talk to you." Jake says from the living room as AJ and I walk through the door. I'm worried and confused, the only people in the living room is Erika and Jake.
AJ walks upstairs and I go into the living room, sitting in one of chairs.
"So, our family is amazing, we were wondering if you'd want a little sister, to expand our family?" Jake asks. I think I'm about to cry.
"Of course I would! Adoptive or are you guys going to have a baby?" I ask. Erika giggles.
"No silly, adoptive! We get to go meet her in Colorado in eight days, then they'll tell us when we can legally adopt her." Erika says.
"Awh, what's her name? And do I get to go with you guys to see her?" I ask.
"Her name is Maggie, she's five and yes, you're going with us! We're family." Jake says.
"I love you, mum and dad." I say, almost making mum, dad and myself cry.
"Annabella, Maggie has told us things and colors that she likes, want to go with me to get stuff for her new room?" Erika asks.
"Yes, what room is going to be hers?" I ask.
"Uncle Kade agreed to share a room with Nick." She answers.
We go to the store and pick some things out, this is what we ended up with.
