updating tips

updating is something that I personally struggle with. especially since I am a high school student and I also have a job. so here I'm just going to leave some tips that help me clear out my schedule a bit. 

1. use weekends to your advantage

I know weekends are the time where students like to relax, hang out with their friends, and wait until late Sunday night to begin homework. somethings that have helped me free up my weekends for writing or just finding motivation to write on weekends are: doing homework on Friday night, avoiding having sleepovers, writing for short periods of time, don't force yourself to write when you aren't inspired to.

2. do your homework right when you get home

this may seem like a terrible thing to do because no one wants to do their homework right after you get home from school. but I do this myself, and it frees up the rest of your so much. I personally have a lot of stuff to do at night, which mainly requires preparing myself for the next school day, and its very stressful to try and pack 2 hours of homework into 30 mins. so do it while you have the free time, then you won't be so stressed at night. 

3. write over short periods of time

writing for long periods of time can be tiring and stressful, especially when you're not motivated or inspired to. write while you have the motivation and ideas, then stop when you don't have any more ideas

4. when you think of something, write it down

this can be on paper, on your phone, or anything that is accesible to you. when an idea for your story randomly pops up in your head, write it down. so now when you sit down to write, you have a basic understanding of what to write.

5. do it when your thinking about it

if you're sitting in bed doing nothing and the thought of updating comes into your mind, do it right then, don't push it back. what I have discovered happens when I push updating back, is that I loose all my motivation and ideas to do it. so when you're in a situation where you can update, do it while you can.
