BAM!

both boys were jolted awake by someone- or something hitting the door of the truck, making a loud sound that rang through the boys' ears.

"dan! you're coming with me!"

it took a moment for dan to see who told him this, but when his eyes cleared he saw karlie standing by the back door of the truck, her face red. her face always got red when she was mad.

dan rubbed his eyes and groaned. he noticed that phil had his arm behind dan's neck before phil sat up and basically ripped his arm from under dan.

"karlie, wait a second-"

"no, we need to talk" karlie interrupted, taking dan's wrist and basically yanking him out of the truck. dan was still tired as he was walking with karlie, the environment spinning around him.

but dan did get one quick glance at phil sitting in his truck alone. he couldn't really pick out his emotion on dan leaving, but it's not like dan cared.

karlie basically threw dan in her car, fuming. she started the car and started to drive home.

"are you mad at me?" dan asked, knowing the answer.

karlie let out a sigh, the redness in her face fading slightly.

"look, i don't want you hanging out with him, or even smoking! since when did you smoke?!" karlie asked, gripping the steering wheel so tight, her knuckles were white.

"i don't smoke, that was my first cigarette in years, and only my second time,"

"not happening, i don't want to see you near him, i'm not letting you fall in love with him,"

dan's back straightened and he finally looked at karlie after looking forward the whole time.

"fall in love with him? are you mental? i would never fall in love with him,"

"can you say that again on video for me?"

dan sighed.

"i'm serious, do it."

"fine." dan grabbed karlie's phone and pulled open the camera, "i will not fall in love with phil lester."

"if you do i want $100," karlie said in the back round.

"i'll give karlie $100 if i do." dan turned off her phone and looked forward again, crossing his arms.

"you sure are confident about that," karlie said, becoming her old self again. she looked at dan.

"look, i'm sorry, it's just what's best for you,"

"fine, mum." dan groaned.

karlie looked at dan for a moment while parking. his eyes looked different, more distant, less innocent. maybe it was just the cigarettes. karlie got out the car and walked ahead of dan into the apartment complex
