Takumi's pov.

It almost killed me to see the Colonel and Pudge so crestfallen. I played it cool, acting as if I knew what they were going through. They started to cut me off which actually made things a lot easier. Still I just couldn't shake the feeling of utter guilt every time I saw them.

At the begging of the year, just after Alaska and I had met pudge, her and I were smoking where we always do while talking about the general in his labyrinth. I had never read it before but she talked about it often enough for me to understand every detail of the plot as well as all of her opinions on it. Anyway she droned on about how she needed to find a way out of her own labyrinth. She started talking about how hard her life was and how all she did was hurt the people around her. Just typical Alaska stuff.

Jokingly we started making super elaborate plans for her escape. They involved me sneaking her to Japan after faking her death in a car crash. We would leave clues that would lead everyone to believe that she had committed suicide. It was crazy, we would never be able to pull it off, we both knew that. However it was still fun to think about it.

As we continued through the year she kept talking about pudge when he and the colonel weren't around. She would talk for hours about him and whenever I mentioned Jake a morose look would fall on her face. She told me that although she loved Jake there was something about pudge that was just so intriguing. She wanted to be his friend but with benefits.

By now you've probably already figures out that I somewhat helped Alaska "die". Not like euthanasia, I just helped her disappear for a little while.

Now when we made the plans we knew that they would never work. Even if they had we never would have dared try them. That was until things became desperate.
