Chapter 1

Alaska's pov.

I don't know what's happening or how me and Takumi pulled this off. All I know is that I'm tired and jet lagged.

So I curl up and fall asleep.

•dream•

I wake up in complete darkness. I can hear a man, and judging by his voice he is in his late teens. There are now many other voices filling the strange place.

The lights flicker on and I can see a large group of people looking out windows. The walls, floors and ceilings are all black. I see the boy that the first voice belonged to, so I walk up to him.

"Where am I" I say. He just turns and stares at me then slowly moves his face back to the window. I peer over him to see what he is looking at only to find the earth. "Wow I'm quite far from home." I state watching the boys expression turn into a mournful frown.

"Me too" the boy says, "somewhere down there is my girlfriend. She's the one with the oxygen tank but more importantly she's the one with my heart."

I frown. "There's more than one boy down there with my heart." I state plainly and watch as the boy gives me a pitiful look. "It's complicated."

"I miss her" he says. "I really do"

"I miss people too. I don't even know what happened between us. I remember his voice whisper 'I love you Alaska Younge.'" I say suddenly aware of a single tear that had escaped my eye and trickled down my cheek. "But alas, I had another love. He was so sweet but he will never know what had happened between me and Pudge. In my last few seconds I betrayed both of them. I made too many promises I could not keep."

"I don't know who I love." I say.

I don't know why but this boy makes me feel like I can revel myself to him. He makes me feel safe.

"A little to late to decide now isn't it?" he asks. I don't understand though. Why would it be to late? I'm not stuck here. Does he know about me running away with Takumi. No he can't. I give him a quizzical look just as I see a woman behind him.

I soon realize that it is not just any woman, it's my mother.

"Mom." I say almost inaudibly.

"Hush hush now. It will all be okay." she says in a calm, soothing voice and that's when I realize that I'm bawling my eyes out.

"Mom I'm so sorry." I choke out, "I was scared and I just couldn't save you in time."

I wake up sobbing. My cheeks stained with tears. I grab the book Pride and Prejudice. I have read this book eight times already. I had to hide it from Pudge and the Colonel, I knew they would judge me for reading a romance novel. This book gave me hope that there was true love out there. I had true love. It was with Jake. "It was with Pudge." My subconscious remarks. No, I loved Jake. Well, I still love him. "Ha, don't you remember the fire that ignited inside of you when Pudge put his lips to yours. When he touched you, you loved it. You love Pudge. You always will." I am so confused. I have to text Takumi.

Urgh. Stupid Pudge. Why does he always come when I am trying to text Takumi! I hate him! "No you don't" The little voice in the back of my mind says. Stupid mind. I hate love. I hate this. I hate what I did. I hate being alone.

Takumi's POV

I really don't know Lask. Pudge is coming. I gtg bye, see you in three days.

"Hey Takumi, are you alright?" Pudge puts his arm around me.

"Yeah man, now get your arm off of me." I joke.

"Dude, you came at a bad time. I gotta shower." I say. Its not entirely false, I do smell but I just want him to leave.

"Imma stay here. Go shower. You smell." Pudge put his hand infront of his nose.

I laugh, grab my towel and head to the showers.

Pudge's POV

Thank god he left. The Colonel told me Takumi might have a girlfriend. He is always on his phone! But, whenever I come around his phone goes away. Is he dating a crazy Japanese chick? Only one way to find out. I grab his phone, there is a password. Just my luck. Uh. *1234* Incorrect. Shit. Okay, how about... *6969* Correct! Yes! I can't believe that worked. Wait of corse it worked its Takumi. Now, I just have to go through his messages....

Laura? Oh god Takumi.

Lask... Does he mean Alaska. No, she is dead. I look through the messages.

I read the line five times before I hear the bathroom door click open. I throw Takumi's phone across the room to where it was. I hope he didn't see me.

"Well, you sure do smell better." I complement.

"Its coconut shampoo, I just got it."

"I have to go."

"But, we were gonna smoke and drink tonight."

"Sorry man."

I sprint out the door to my room. I look at the Colonel, a cigarette between his teeth. I walk up to him panting like a maniac. Damn I am out of shape. "Hey ma-" I cut him off.

"Alaska is alive!"
