Kara slowed a bit, a small smile growing on her lips. Lena did, in fact, like women. Butterflies soon spread throughout the blonde's body and her cheeks grew warm. It was like, as soon as her suspicions about Lena were confirmed, the whole atmosphere shifted. Kara felt a lot more shy and self conscious. Not necessarily in the most horrible way imaginable, but in a 'schoolgirl having a crush' sort of way. It was, admittedly, a little pathetic how a small piece of information could change the way that Kara viewed her relationship with Lena. That, just because Lena liked women, she suddenly had a chance. Wishful thinking much?
Kara cleared her throat. "How come I didn't know? How come you didn't tell me?" She asked a bit timidly.
Lena waited for a moment, "I guess I forgot to," she answered.
"Forgot? That seems unlikely," Kara chuckled.
"Unlikely for a Luthor, trying to bring positive light to her name, to keep something possibly extremely controversial under wraps?" Lena asked with a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "Truth is that I've gone for so long, hiding it, that I forgot. Well, maybe not completely, but I didn't feel a need to bring it up. It's not like I have a romantic life anyways."The last sentence made Kara wince a bit. She did understand where Lena was coming from, though. On some days, before becoming Supergirl, Kara would completely forget her powers. It was a common occurrence, actually.
"Aren't you gonna say anything?" Lena asked Kara after a while of silence.
Kara looked up from the hypnotizing rhythm of her footsteps following her thoughts, and turned her face to the side, meeting Lena's gaze.
Kara gave her a warm smile. "No, I'm good."
Lena seemed to lighten at the comment, "That's good."Lena came a little closer and leaned her head on the blonde's shoulder. Kara hummed with content and Lena imitated her hum. Kara chuckled and let out a small sigh of happiness. The moment was almost indescribable. The wind was blowing softly and, slowly, red leaves were landing on the pathway. The trees whistled silently and everything was exceptionally beautiful in that moment. Lena's warm body was the perfect contrast to the autumn cold, and her emerald eyes looked vibrant and beautiful as ever, complimented by the tones around her.
Kara didn't want to keep her feelings a secret anymore. She could've sworn she would've kissed Lena right then and there if it hadn't been for that voice in the back of her mind. The voice telling her that everything would turn to shit if she did.
Then another voice sounded in her ear, "Supergirl, we need you. Two robbers are at the big jewelry store in mid town. Two black vans are waiting outside. Catch them," her sister commanded.
Kara turned off the device and shook her head. She stopped and looked apologetically at Lena, "I'm sorry, I have to go. Big emergency at the office. I'll text you later?"
"It's alright. Talk later," Lena said, looking almost disappointed, though Kara might've been imagining things.
Kara made a right turn and as soon as she was out of sight she lifted off the ground, heading for the jewelry store. On the way there all she could think of was how much she wanted to confess to Lena.
She had to have a talk with Alex soon.
