•DANIELS POV•
I run up to my room as fast as I can, avoiding another punch. I would be crying, if I had any tears left to cry. I enter my bathroom, locking the door behind me. I stare at my bruised self in the mirror. What have I become? My eye is black and blue, my lip is busted open and there is blood pouring from my nose. I wash my face and go back into my room, plopping down on the bed. I look at the pictures on my dresser. The pictures of back when my family accepted me. When everything in life was ok. They were the best parents I could ever ask for. They would do anything for me and my siblings. Take us anywhere or get us anything to make sure we had the best quality of life. But eventually, everything changed, because all good things must come to an end.
(Flashback)
"Mom, dad, I brought you here because I have something important to tell you" I say, my hands fidgeting nervously in my lap.
"You can tell us anything sweetie" my mom says. I smile.
"Well, I have a crush on someone" I say.
"Ooh! And who may this lucky girl be?" My dad asks with a smile. I put my head down.
"That's the thing. It's not a girl..." I say hesitantly. My parents happy faces drop.
"W-what do you mean?" My dad asks.
"Mom, dad, I'm gay" I says finally, the weight being lifted off of my chest. My dad then suddenly stands up and glares down at me.
"Your what?" He asks. Before I have a chance to answer, he continues ranting. "Being gay is a mental illness! You must fix yourself soon or we are kicking you out of this house! That is wrong and disgusting. You are a disgrace to this family!" He yells at me. I cower backwards. What did he just say? I feel a tear fall from my eye. That's when I knew that my life was over.
(End of flashback)
It's strange how your life can change so quickly in one small moment. From then on, my parents would beat me every day when I can home from school. They would ask me if I was still gay, and when I would say yes, they would beat me harder. My life has been a mess this year. It takes all of my strength to keep me from ending it all. By this point, there is only one thing that keeps me going.
Zach Herron.
He is the nicest person in the entire school. He is also the guy that I have a major crush on. I haven't told anyone in the school though, because I'm afraid somehow it'll get to him he'll hate me for being gay too.
I speed walk to my locker, trying to avoid everyone I know. That is until I bump into someone. I don't know HOW I managed to bump into him, consider he is much shorter than me. But it's too late now. I lift my head up slightly and see Zach looking up at me. Oh that's just great. What did I get myself into.
"Oh, hi Daniel!" He exclaims with his normal happy energy. I wave, trying to hide my face from him. I don't think it worked though. He frowns.
"Daniel! Your face is all beaten up again" he says, his smile dropping.
"I told you. I fell down the-"
"No. I've had enough of you lying to me. Come on. Your coming with me and your going to tell me what REALLY happened. Before I have time to argue, he grabs my arm and pulls me to the outdoor garden. It's empty, since everyone is either chatting inside, putting stuff in their lockers or heading to their first class. He pushes me down on a bench and sits next to me. "I want an honest answer" he says, looking me in the eyes.
"I don't know if I should tell you" I mumble. He sighs.
"If you tell me, then I can help" he says.
"It's my parents."
"What?!" He says surprised, standing up. "Why would they do that to you!"
"Promise I can trust you?" I ask, standing up next to him.
"You could trust me with your life" he replies.
"I'm gay" I say. He looks at me and smiles. I look at him, confused as to why he is smiling.
"Me too" he says. My mouth opens wide.
"Really?!" I ask, maybe too excited. He chuckles and nods. "My parents aren't excepting of me at all. So this happens" I say, motioning to my face. He looks like he is thinking for a second, and then his head suddenly pops up.
"I have an idea."

We walk out the school door hand and hand, making our way through the crowd of teens who are also leaving.
"So your SURE this is a good idea?" I ask. He nods.
"My parents would LOVE to have you stay with us" he exclaims. We stand on the curb and wait as a gray car pulls up and the window rolls down, revealing the woman who I am guessing is his mother.
"Hello boys!" She says excitedly. Zach smiles.
"Mom, this is Daniel" he announces. She smiles.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Daniel" she replies. Zach looks at me and I nod.
"Well, Daniel has been having some... family issues at home, and we were wondering if he could stay with us for a little bit" Zach asks hopefully. His moms smile grows wider, if that's even possible.
"Why of course! We love having guests" she says, beckoning us into the car. I smile, glad that I don't have to go home tonight. But I know for a fact that this will be... interesting.

Don't worry guys! There will be a part 2!
