No, I'm not baiting you (if there's actually anyone reading this at this point), the title is accurate. But I'm going to explain, so hear me out.
There are a LOT of people who say they feel uncomfortable about having fanfiction written about them, and how fanfiction about real people (when it's shipping them with their friends, sexualizing them, fetishizing, etc.) is disrespectful and horrible and something you should feel ashamed about... and part of that is true.
If someone says they don't feel comfortable with fanfiction, you should be respectful and not post anything to the internet, or at the very least, not spam them about fanfiction and shipping and such. BUT, and this is a serious but, I do think there is a LOT of good that comes from fanfiction writing.
It creates incredibly strong communities of people, like you guys, who are all bonding over a common interest, which can be hard to find.
It's a creative medium that gives people a basis (whether it be characters or a setting) to write about, and a whole community of people who want to read your writing. Getting your stories out there and read can be difficult for aspiring authors, but turning them into fanfiction makes it much more appealing to a broad number of people.
And writing is an incredibly important skill to have, especially for teenagers, because getting into college and stuff.
So no, I'm not shaming ANYONE for writing fanfiction, I'm just saying, writing it makes me slightly uncomfortable. I still read it, no doubt about that. I just think I've matured a bit (and become a bit more empathetic) and I value creating my own characters and settings much more now, and I just find that writing about real people FOR ME is a bit weird. If you are a fanfic writer, do NOT let this little speech make you feel bad about what your doing, because if the people you are writing about aren't uncomfortable about it, keep being creative, and most importantly, keep having fun.
I can barely believe i was 13 when i started this book, but I'm turning 16 next week and I think I'm ready to move on into a new part of my life regarding writing.
That doesn't mean this account won't be active anymore. I'm still a huge WDW Stan and that certainly won't change anytime soon. This book is just no longer in production, or at the very least, on hold for a LONG TIME (not like it hasn't been already). I'm debating on whether or not to unpublished it, but that's another difficult decision for another day. I'm sorry.
I love all of you, and I'm going to miss this.
See you later,
:)
