"What do you mean 'I didn't know I'd employed you'? Don't you read the application forms?"
He looked blankly at me, "Think before you speak Miss Armageddon... no, of course I bloody well didn't" a smile crept across Ravel's face.
"And there was me thinking I was something special..." I looked at my feet under the desk, he patted my shoulder,
"Bliv, Hun, you are special..." I smirked "No, seriously I don't even bother reading the papers, I have several people to do that for me."
I laughed "Oh righty... wait, then what the hell do you do?" I was sure he was going to say 'absolutely nothing' which wouldn't have surprised me; but instead he said,
"Lots of difficult Grand Magey stuff" I rolled my eyes "No honestly, it's soo boring it's all paper and words..."
"And late night drinking..." I smirked
"I'm sorry?"
"You should probs keep the stash somewhere less conspicuous..."
"Oblivion I don't..." I kicked the desk draw open and his smile fell as mine rose, "Drink..."
I started to get up "Y'know what I think I'll tell Bespoke!"
"Don't you freaking well dare!!"
"hmm... try me..."
He got up to my height, "As Grand Mage I order you to wipe your mind of this conversation..."
"Pah! In fact y'know what I might tell Skul too..."
He muttered under his breath "God you are so damn irritating" and I smiled, "Bliv please don't, they'd like form a Mafia group against me... and I'd be traumatised for the rest of my sodding days! You don't understand!"
I made a sympathetic face, "Okay, fine whatever. But you've gotta promise you would drink anymore because, one; it's bad for your liver and two; recently you've been a bit of a state..." he looked offended, "Oh and three I don't want you to die..."
"Bliv that's so swee..."
"Only cuz if you die I lose my job.. so.."
"oh lovely..." he rolled his eyes and sat back down
"Na, I'm joking... I'd miss you too much..."
He chuckled and I joined him opposite.
"I would offer you tea but I don't usually carry a teapot in my briefcase so no I won't... but it's usually the thought that counts soo.."
"It's okay; I got coffee on the way up... In the canteen that is..."
"righty.."
"Oh yeah, and saw Tanith, Rue and Vex... Tanith is a little ticked but that's usually how Tanith is..."
"hmm..."
"hmmm?"
"yeah wha?"
"well you sounded a little dazed.. oh right that's why..."
"it's nothing..." he flicked the loose paper into a draw.
"Oh yes it is..." and I kicked the desk, rather unnecessarily, but managed to grab the paper as it fell to the floor from the draw.
I straightened the letter and got up as Ersk tried to face me off and retrieve his property I turned away and read it out to him.
"Dear Grand Mage Ravel, Oh how very formal... As requested we have summoned the help of the American, African and English Sanctuaries to assist the cradle in the time of need..."
"Bliv please give it back..."
I looked at him puzzled and proceeded, "Although we have requested help none of the Sanctuaries are offering to assist us and I am afraid to say we are alone on this matter. Although a meeting is due to be held to help resolve this crisis..."Before I could read any further he pinned me to the wall and made an attempt to grab the letter from my hand, I laughed as I hid it around my back and he made an attempt to grab at it. By the time he finally managed to retrieve the letter from my grasp he had managed to wrap both of his arms around me and we were both pinned to the wall, something which would have looked really weird to an onward prospector.
That was when the door opened...***************************
