sydney and her mother walk passed the baggage claim, rolling the green suitcase behind her. no one is taking notice of her, and no one knows what she's here for. compared to washington, where she's lived since she was thirteen, this a huge step up. just the airport alone is astonishing.

she goes down an escalator to get to the ground floor, hoping to maybe rent a car or flag down a taxi.

"sydney mcallister?" a woman comes goes up to them, tapping sydney on the shoulder. sydney whips around and make eye contact with her.

"that's me." she says nervously, keeping her guard up.

"we've been requested to take you to the best western plus hotel." suddenly, a team of two men and another woman come to take her luggage and she is escorted into a car.

i guess people do know why i'm here, let alone who i am.

sydney thinks to herself as she buckles into the backseat of the sleek, black suv, her mother sitting next to her, looking almost excited. taking in the sights as they drive, sydney begins to remember living here, growing up in a manicured neighborhood, and becoming friends with all of the kids she lived close to.

once the car pulls up to the hotel, sydney pulls out her phone to text ethan.

sydney: what the hell is this ethan??

slightly frustrated, she goes to get her luggage from the trunk, but one of the men refuses to let her and does it himself. the woman she met at the airport takes sydney to her room, giving her the card room key. then sydney is the only one in the hallway. looking around, she puts the card to the door sensor, and when the room unlocks, she takes a deep breath.

stepping into the room, sydney closes the door behind her, listening to it click loudly. her mom stands in the doorway as the door shuts, gesturing her daughter to walk in the room. that's when sydney sees ethan dolan casually sitting at the desk placed in the corner of the room, browsing on his cellphone. she silently squeaks of excitement, and it felt like all of the air got sucked from her lungs.

"hello princess." he says, his deep voice nearly making her buckle her knees.

this is not happening.

to sydney's dismay, she only stands there, her mouth gaping open. his eyes search her for a response, but a smile stretches on his lips as he stands, taking a step closer.
