(( A/N: IMPORTANT: I'm putting this at the top as its important and I want to ensure as many people read it as possible. People who have followed this fic for a short while may have noticed I've been updating less and less frequently since the beginning. At the moment, I'm going through one of the most difficult points in my life and the motivation to write or do anything is not really..there. Things at the moment are difficult yet I am also in a position where I feel in limbo and everything in my life is static. Therefore content may be coming out less frequently and for this I am sorry. Nothing encourages me more than helpful and kind comments. For these I would be truly grateful. I appriciate all my readers and commenters, thank you for being here))
Song: Redbone - Childish Gambino (instrumental version preferably)
Finn's POV
She jumped off the stage and head towards me, still with our eyes locked. The crowd continue to jump and dance, now with the music playing over the speakers in place of the band. I left my beer bottle on a side table and pushed through the crowd of sweaty teenagers, moving towards her. She grins as I approach until just behind her, Drew follows, slinging his arm loosely around her shoulders. My face falls.
Y/Ns POV
Before I can reach Finn, Drew's arm pulls me in.
"Good gig right?" He speaks with a wide smile spread across his face.
I nod; "Sure Drew", continuing to walk towards Finn.
I approach and Drew follows while continuing to talk into my ear. I take the plunge and lean in to hug Finn as Drew's arm slips away.
"Hey! How did ya like the gig" I speak, giddy with excitement at seeing him, while I pull away from the hug.
"Yeah..Yeah it was great. I didn't expect such a crowd" Finn spoke, stuffing his hands into his pockets awkwardly and lightly blushing, either due to the hug or the fact his comment may have come across as rude.
I smile and shake my head, "It's cool, we didn't either"
"Yeah" Drew interjects as he faces towards me "Need a ride home?"
I pause for a moment, looking to Finn then back to Drew and shake my head.
"Nah.. I'm good" Despite knowing I didn't have a ride home, I wanted to pre-long my time with Finn. Drew nods half heartedly and walks back to the stage to pack up.
"Do you even have a ride?" Finn questioned, raising an eyebrow.
I shake my head and laugh in response; "No..does it matter?"
"Well I drove here I mean.. I could take you home?.. I mean.. drop you off to your home" He clarifies, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"You have a car?" I query
"No.. I drove my moms" He says with hesitance in his voice.
I smile in response and nod. "Sure", not wanting to make him feel embarrassed over driving his moms car.
"You wanna bounce now?"
I nod in reply, turning to look at the band then back at Finn who motions his head to the door. We both leave the venue and head towards the small car in the parking lot which I can just about see under the dim street lighting. He unlocks the car and pulls open the door for me. As we both get in the car, Finn plugs in his phone and shuffles a Spotify playlist.
I settle into the car, pushing in my seatbelt and running my hands though my hair as the music flows through the car.
The drive home is quiet, aside from me quietly directing him to my house. We sit in silence apart from Redbone playing softly through the speakers. My eyelids become heavy and the streetlights turn into blurry orbs. Finn looks over as I yawn deeply and pulls up outside my house.
"Y/N..."
I turn to face him while opening the car door; "Mhm?"
"Do you like Drew? You know.."
Shaking my head I reply; "No Finn.."
For a moment we sit in silence before I push the door open fully and step out. The night had a surreal feeling to it, I felt strange..
"Thanks for the ride..Goodnight Finn"
"Goodnight Y/N"
