"Hey brother." Daryl says opening the door. He hasn't seen Rick in a while. They shake hands and Daryl leads him to the living room. As Rick sits down, Daryl goes to the kitchen and brings back two beers.
"How ya been, Daryl?" Rick asks. Daryl just shrugs.
"I know you didn't call me over for nothing. And it has to be important." Rick says watching Daryl sit down across from him.
"I'm with Beth." He says sighing.
"But...," Rick says and he urges Daryl to continue.
"But, I just don't think, I'm right for her. I mean Hershel, would he want his daughter with someone like me?" he asks looking down at the beer in his hand.
"Daryl, Hershel, would have been disappointed in Beth if she hadn't picked you." He says taking a swig of his beer. Daryl just nods. Rick knows in his heart that Hershel wants Beth to be happy. that's all he wants for his daughters. Hell, that's what any father wants for his children.
"Daryl, you are a great man. She's lucky to have someone who cares about her, especially because it's you." He says smiling. Daryl huffs a weak laugh.
"You know, she told me the other day, that she was happy with me." Daryl says looking up.
"She said she loved me. haven't even taken her out on a real date yet and she loves me.." he says shaking his head. Rick sees the doubt in Daryl's eyes.
"Daryl, she is happy. She loves you. If she wasn't happy she wouldn't be with you." he says reaching over and placing a hand on his shoulder.
"I guess you're right." He says smiling.
"Now you gotta believe it, brother." Rick says patting Daryl's shoulder. Daryl's phone vibrates on the table. Beth's picture pops up on the screen and Daryl smiles.
"Hey, babe." he says getting up and walking to the kitchen.
Rick can hear some of what Daryl is saying. 'Nothing, Ricks over.'
'Yeah, I'll tell him.'
'Alright, hey, I, uh, I love you.'
'See you later.'
A few seconds later Daryl comes back and there's a huge knowing smile on Rick's face.
"Oh, shut up." Daryl says flipping rick off.
