The next thing Avery knew, there was a larger fence being built around her section of the field. Not only was it between the border of the field and the forest, but it encircled the entire area and cut her off from everything and everyone. The fence was taller than before, about ten feet high, and her father made sure it left no gaps for her to climb through and escape.

Everything inside of the garden was taken out except for the necessary tools for her work. There was a gate to let her out, but it only opened from the outside, making sure there was no escape.

Avery's life went straight from a high to a low in a matter of minutes. When she finally thought she'd had everything in place, it all just fell apart, but that didn't keeping her from hoping.

She now longed for that "someday" that lie just on the horizon.

Every day, Avery worked in her field, doing just enough work to keep her garden alive. Her life now consisted of less freedom than ever before, but more hope than she'd ever dreamed of.

Before her adventures, her life seemed dull and almost meaningless.

Repeating the same things, day in and day out, but now... now she had something to live for.

In the end, Avery knew it all was well worth it.

One day as she was working in the fields, she heard a "Psst," coming from the woods.

Avery looked up to see Wesley standing at the edge of the forest.

She smiled.

"What happened?" Wesley asked, stunned by the towering fences.

"They didn't understand," Avery said casually as if it were no big deal.

"So..." Wesley continued, "Are you stuck there?"

"For now," Avery said looking into the distance.

"But someday," she said walking to the fence's edge, "someday I'll be free."

When these words left her lips, there was a sense of hope in the air.

And even though she was stuck in the cage, she was still the happiest person, because she had hope in her future.

Every day from then on, she'd whisper a little promise to herself.

"Where I'm at in life is not where I'm going. I'll press on today for the sake of tomorrow. I'll press on for today because of where I'll be going."

Each time after uttering these words, the grass looked greener, the sun shined brighter, and her future looked better.
