The witches eyes widened at the comment, obviously not expecting her daughter to say that. Chewing on the inside of her cheek as she tried to quickly think of how to respond, it seemed Helena caught on and just kept a smile; giving her mother's hand a soft squeeze. "You don't have to say anything mama, just know that's how I see you. That's always how I've seen you, I'm really proud of you too."
Alexandria cleared her mind, pushing her anxieties and worries down. She couldn't ruin this lunch with her daughter, as she looked around it was easy to see how much effort was put into this. The witch smiled warmly at Helena, taking the teens hand in her own and gave a soft squeeze. "What kind of mother would I be if I did not protect you? The moment I knew I was having a child.. The first thing I knew I would do.. Was give my life for you, no matter what it was for.. But then as I got older I realized the best thing I could do to protect you was live for you instead. Thinking back it was a silly thing, knowing what I do now. I would have missed seeing you grow into a beautiful unique woman, that I see now."
With her daughters smile softening, the elder witch reached out and pulled the other close, bringing her into a loving hug. Placing one hand on the back of Helena's head, while the other rubbed her back. Soon hearing soft sobs from her daughter and felt the woman's shoulders shaking, placing a soft kiss on the side of her head and on her cheek; leaving her cheek, leaving a faded green lip stain on the witches pale skin. Showing the love Alexandria wished she could have throughly the years her beloved child was away, missing the little things like this. But would take any millisecond she could of this, placing her cheek against her daughters and kept a warm smile. The Duchess started to hum softly before running her slender fingers through the woman's short hair softly as she began to sing softly.
"Little child, be not afraid
Though rain pounds harshly against the glass
Like an unwanted stranger, there is no danger
I am here tonightLittle child, be not afraid
Though thunder explodes and lightning flash
Illuminates your tear-stained face
I am here tonightAnd someday you'll know
That nature is so
The same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
On forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see
In the morningLittle child, be not afraid
Though storm clouds mask your beloved moon
And its candlelight beams, still keep pleasant dreams
I am here tonightLittle child, be not afraid
Though wind makes creatures of our trees
And their branches to hands, they're not real, understand
And I am here tonightAnd someday you'll know
That nature is so
The same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
On forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see
In the morningFor you know, once even I was a
Little child, and I was afraid
But a gentle someone always came
To dry all my tears, trade sweet sleep for fears
And to give a kiss goodnightWell now I am grown
And these years have shown
That rain's a part of how life goes
But it's dark and it's late
So I'll hold you and wait
'Til your frightened eyes do closeAnd I hope that you'll know
That nature is so
The same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
On forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see
In the morningEverything's fine in the morning
The rain'll be gone in the morning
But I'll still be here in the morning."Alexandria smiled even more as Helena pulled away with a giggle. "You still sing my favorite lullaby even if I'm an adult? You know me well don't you mama? I've really missed that song."
