For those who don't know, there are 3 major packs in northern America; us, the Jade Forest pack, we control most of Canada, the Blood Moon pack which controls the mainland United States -we have Alaska and Hawaii is controlled by a native pack- and, of course, there's the Rosa Angel pack who controls Mexico and some scattered territory in the peninsula of countries under it.

Normally when they call for a meeting the Alpha and Luna will go to the pack house of the Blood Moon pack because it's equal distance for the other packs, but in this case we've decided to host it here because the Blood Moon pack is going through some hard times with the Silver River pack, a small but quickly growing pack also in the mainland of the US. To add onto that, there's the recent transition of power between Alphas in the Rosa Angel pack.

So Alpha Peter, Luna Nora, Beta Zeke and Alpha Arturo and Beta Roberto will be coming to the Jade Forest pack within the week.

Kian, being the Alpha's second born, was not needed to attend any of their meetings but was perfectly able to go if he decided he wanted to. I wasn't even allowed in the hall that led to the door.

This was a new rule put in place after the Alpha found out that Hannah had enchanted Kian, he didn't want anyone to share the secrets of the pack or our allies. He's fearful about what she may have heard or who she belonged to.

I sat on my bed with my back up against the wall and my book wide open in front of me as my eyes skimmed the pages.

The book was engrossing, a fictional piece this time about a female who's father is a detective. One day someone takes her father after he solves a big case and she has to find him. The other people who help him on cases keep turning up dead and he will be the last one. It's a race against time to find her father before it's too-

A hand pulled the book away from my hands and I looked up to a beautiful, smirking face.

"Good book?"

I pulled it away from Kian and placed a book mark between the pages before he could ruin it.

"Aren't you supposed to be in the meeting?"

"I wanted to be here with you, love."

"You really should be catching up on those things, if Hannah's spell did numb your brain then you must be missing some valuable inform-."

"All I hear is blah, blah, blah..."

"Kian-"

I was about to snap at him for his comment but he put his hand on the back of my neck so suddenly and pulled me to meet his lips so fast that I could barely finish his name before he was pressing his lips against my own.

My hands went onto his chest when his other hand moved to go over the first so both were locked around my neck. Gentle. So gentle. Unlike the other kiss we shared weeks back when he marked me.

The thought of a mark made my fingers flit over to my own on his neck. I caressed it, making him moan at the pleasure our marks brought each other and deepened the kiss. He licked my bottom lip, asking for entrance which I refused to give him.

Instead I pulled away, not moving either of my hands but taking my head a few inches from his.

"I wish I could say I was sorry, but," he didn't bother to finish, instead he chuckled and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. I smiled at him.

"So why aren't you in the meeting?"

"I wanted to be with my mate instead. The others understood," he stopped for a second before adding," Except Mike, he doesn't really get the whole 'mate' thing."

"Do you?"

He groaned before pulling away from me completely.

"I'm sorry, that was uncalled for."

"I'm trying, love," something in my face must have sent him the wrong message because he came to kneel next to the side of my bed and stared up at me with those wide eyes," You do know that, right?"

"Of course I do," I cupped his face in my hands and he purred softly at my touch.

"Please don't doubt me," he whispered," I don't think me or my wolf can take it."

"I'll try."

"You shouldn't have to try, I-"

I couldn't take his apologies anymore. My heart had forgiven him the moment he tackled the lycan, it just took my head a while to catch up. I slammed my lips against his, pushing him backwards in the process. He nearly lost balance on the floor but soon found it when he grasped my thigh.

Smiles took over both of our faces after we'd pulled away, just relishing in the sweetness of our happiness as mates.

Oh, dear huntress, we were not prepared for what was to come next.
