Bodies Switched

As soon as Merlin woke up, he knew that something was wrong. For one, he was in Arthur's bed, laying next to a sleeping Gwen. Just as he realized this, he gasped and tumbled out of the bed. He crashed to the floor, making Gwen sit straight up, panicked. She turned to see Merlin, sitting on the floor, his eyes wide. Gwen chuckled at this, and let out a small sigh.

"Had a nightmare, Arthur?" Gewn asked, smiling at Merlin.

"A-Arthur?" Merlin whispered.

Gwen looked at him, confused, as he stood and ran to the nearest mirror. Looking in the mirror, he saw not his face, but Arthur's. He just stood there, blinking multiple times to make sure that this wasn't a dream. He felt a hand on his shoulder, and saw in the mirror that a worried looking Gwen was by his side.

"Arthur, are you okay?" Gwen asked.

Instead of answering, Merlin let out one of the loudest screams that Gwen had ever heard.

***

"Merlin. Merlin. MERLIN!"

"Why are you calling me Merlin, Guinevere?"

The person who called him Merlin shoved Arthur onto the floor, which made him jump up in anger. Instead of seeing Gwen's face and the familiar walls of his chambers, he saw the house that Freya and Merlin called home.

"Okay, Freya," Arthur began, folding his arms. "Why am I here? And why did I wake up next to you?"

"Merlin, you are acting very strange," Freya replied, glaring at Arthur. "But never mind that. You have to hurry, or else you will be late and you know that Arthur doesn't like it when you're late."

"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?" Arthur yelled angrily. "I. AM. ARTHUR."

"Yeah, in your dreams," Freya said, rolling her eyes.

"You want proof?!?" Arthur grumbled. "Give me a mirror."

"Here," Freya said, handing him a hand mirror.

"There," Arthur said triumphantly. "Now, you will see that I am Ar-MERLIN?!?"

"I told you that, but you seem to think that you're Arthur!" Freya mumbled, turning around. "Now, hurry up, or you're going to be late. Again."

The hand mirror slipped from Arthur, hitting the floor and smashing into pieces.

"Mer-" Freya began, turning around, but stopped when she realized that Arthur was gone.

"I married a weirdo," Freya mumbled, sighing.

Merlin was still screaming when Gwen turned him around to face her, then smacked him. Immediately, Merlin placed a hand to his cheek, stopped screaming, and looked at Gwen with a hurt expression.

"Thanks, that really helped," Merlin said, giving Gwen a small smile.

"Arthur, what is the matter?" Gwen asked, raising an eyebrow. "You're not acting like yourself. You're acting like...like...Merlin?!?"

"Yes! It's me Gwen!" Merlin replied, smiling wide. "Thank God someone finally found out."

"Wait, so does that mean-?"

Gwen was interrupted by Merlin, or rather Arthur, slamming the door open, not looking the least bit happy. His hair was a mess, he was sweating, and he was still in his bed clothes. Merlin snorted, and let out a little chuckle.

"This isn't funny," Arthur growled, stalking over to Merlin and poking him in the chest.

"It's hilarious," Merlin chuckled, earning a punch from Arthur.

"Okay, before this turns into an all-out brawl," Gwen said, stepping in between the two. "How exactly did this happen?"

"Well..." Merlin began, thinking. "I was practicing a new spell last night, and I think that it might had messed up."

"Oh, what makes you think that?!?" Arthur snarled. "Is it that we switched bodies?!?"

"How do we reverse this?" Gwen asked.

"I'll try to recite the spell again," Merlin suggested.

"How will that work?" Arthur asked, calming down. "You're in my body."

"I'll try it anyway," Merlin replied.

Merlin muttered something incoherently, and his eyes glowed gold. Silence filled the air before Arthur spoke up, looking in the mirror.

"Nothing happened," Arthur said, annoyance in his voice. "Merlin! Teach me the spell you used! Maybe it only works when you're in your own body."

"That makes sense, I guess," Gwen stated, unhelpfully.

"Fine," Merlin said, and whispered the spell into Arthur's ear.

"What kind of effect was that spell supposed to give you?" Arthur asked, curiously.

"Make me more muscular," Merlin shrugged.

Arthur raised his eyebrow while Gwen let out a small laugh.

"Just...just do the spell," Merlin sighed, face-palming.

"Mutant...aliquid...aliud...corpus...meum..." Arthur struggled with the words.

Soon, both Arthur and Merlin saw black and fell to the floor.

"Ugh..." Arthur said, sitting up and rubbing his head. "The stupid spell better have worked."

"Yes!"

Arthur sat up to look at Merlin, who was in his own body.

"Oh thank God," Arthur sighed, standing up. "There is no way that I would ever be able to survive a day in Merlin's shoes."

Merlin chuckled as he made his way over to Arthur. Arthur smirked at Merlin, who's smile dropped.

"Arthur?" Merlin asked.

"I have a way that you could make up for your mistake," Arthur stated, cracking his knuckles.

Face paling, Merlin turned on his heels and ran, Arthur screaming and chasing after him. Gwen sighed, and face-palmed as Nila walked in.

"Does Arthur even realize that he has a council meeting that he needs to attending right now?" Nila asked, confused.

"Nope," Gwen asked, going behind the changing screen to change. "And whatever you do, don't ask them about it."

Nila raised an eyebrow, and just sighed in confusion.

"Trust me, I don't want to know," Nila mumbled, helping Gwen.

*The spell that Merlin told Arthur to say is Latin for "Change my body to something different."*
