Arthur paced his chambers, the events of the day running through his head. That boy. That dark haired boy. He had the nerve to call him an arse. A royal arse. But...Arthur couldn't shake this feeling that he had about the boy. What was his name again? Merlin? Arthur scoffed as he collapsed on his bed and sighed. He'll search out this Merlin tomorrow. He soon fell into a deep sleep, unaware that future events will change his future.

Arthur stood there, stunned. This Merlin boy had just saved his life from an angry sorceress. He looked at him, but Merlin just cleared his throat and avoided the Prince's gaze. Arthur snapped back to reality when he heard his father declare Merlin as his new manservant.

"Father!" Arthur exclaimed, his voice getting lost in the sound of clapping.

Arthur scoffed and turned towards Merlin. Their eyes met for a moment before Merlin turned away to face Gaius. Arthur continued to stare at Merlin's back before shaking his head and stared forward. What was that he just saw in the boy's eyes?

"Don't drink it! It's poison!"

Arthur barely lowered his goblet when Merlin ran into the room and grabbed it.

"Merlin, what are you doing?!?" Arthur asked, confused and a little worried.

Merlin blabbed on about how he knew that the goblet was poisoned, but Arthur started to not pay attention to what his manservant said, and instead he looked at him.

"He'll drink it."

Arthur let out a sharp gasp at what his father said and quickly thought of a way to get Merlin out of this.

"This is ridiculous! I'll drink it!" Arthur objected and ran towards Merlin.

"Nonononono it's okay," Merlin assured, gently pushing the prince away.

Arthur cursed under breath as Melin drank from the goblet. After finishing it, Merlin looked at Uther and sighed.

"It's fine," he said.

Arthur let out a sigh of relief he didn't realize he was holding, and turned to sit back down. Then, he heard it. Merlin choking. He turned around once again just in time to see Merlin collapse on the ground. Not thinking of anything else he ran towards Merlin, and fell to his side. Everything turned into a blur and before he knew it, he was going against his father's wishes and riding off to find the flower that could cure his manservant. He didn't know why he was so concerned for the well being of the boy he just met two weeks ago, but he didn't care.

Arthur waited in the cell for what felt like forever. He clutched the flower in his hands, thankful that his father didn't all the way crush the plant. If only there was a way to get this flower to Merlin. His head perked up as Gwen approached the cell. Stealthy he gave the flower to her, and hoped that she would be able to get the flower to Merlin on time. As soon as she left, Arthur waited impatiently for a few more hours until his father approached and told him that he was able to leave, and also exclaimed how he was proud of his son for the choice that he made. Arthur barely noticed as he ran through the halls and towards Gaius' chambers. Before entering, he paused to catch his breath. Then, he opened the door, and smiled to himself as he saw Merlin, alive and well, eating.

"Still alive then?"

Merlin turned and smiled at him, and Arthur felt his cheeks redden a little.

"Yeah, just about," Merlin replied, with a chuckle.

Arthur cleared his throat before smiling, walking over, and leaning on the back of Merlin's chair.

"I-I understand that I have you to thank," Merlin mumbled, his smile turning shy.

Arthur tried to cover himself up, and turned his head.

"Yeah, well, it was nothing," he said. "A half decent servant is hard to come by."

He looked back at Merlin, who just chuckled and looked down. Arthur let out a little sigh before talking again.

"I was only dropping by to make sure that you were alright," Arthur explained, mumbling a bit in embarrassment.

Merlin smiled at the remark and Arthur quickly blurted out, "Just making sure that you will be at work tomorrow."

"Oh yeah, bright and early," Merlin replied softly.

Arthur bit his lip as if he wanted to say something else, but thought the better of it and made his way towards the open door. He was almost free when Merlin spoke up.

"Arthur."

Arthur turned to face him.

"Thank you."

Arthur's mind tried to find what to reply with.

"You too," he replied, referencing the goblet. He paused for a moment before saying something else. "Get some rest."

With that, he turned and walked quickly through the door.

It has been a few years since Merlin had become Arthur's manservant. Throughout everything that they had been through, they have only gotten closer. Close enough that Merlin even revealed his magic to Arthur, and Arthur just accepted it. Everyone in the kingdom could tell that they had fallen in love with each other, but they never told each other. Finally, there came the day where Arthur decided to ask Merlin to marry him. Whistling, Arthur made his way down the halls and froze when he saw Merlin making his way towards him. Not noticing anything, Merlin bumped into Arthur, and dropped the clothes that he was holding.

"Oh, Arthur! I'm so sorry! I didn't see you there!" Merlin blabbed, his face turning red in embarrassment.

"It's fine Merlin," Arthur replied, chuckling a little. "I actually came to ask you something."

"What is it?" Merlin asked, heat rising up to his cheeks.

He hoped that Arthur would ask him the same question he always heard in his dreams. Time seemed to slow down when Arthur kneeled before him and took his hand.

"Merlin, we have known each other for so long now, so I believe that now is the perfect time to ask you one simple question: Will you marry me?"

***

Arthur fidgeted nervously at the altar as everyone settled back into their seats. The knights gave him a reassuring nod, but all he could do was swallow his nervousness. Suddenly the chatter began to die down and Arthur heard the doors open. He stiffened as he heard footsteps walk towards the pair of thrones. He finally risked a glance behind him and saw Merlin walking towards him, his blue cloak trailing behind him. Merlin finally arrived next to Arthur, and smiled at him. Arthur smiled back and took Merlin's hand. They soon said their vows and the next thing Arthur knew, he and Merlin had kissed and they were now married. Finally, Camelot will be safe. With a King and his Warlock King by his side, no enemies would stand a chance against them. As the newly married couple sat on their thrones a cry arose from the rest of the crowd.

"Long live the King and King! Long live Camelot!"
