The clock read 7:08am. The alarm blared throughout the room as a hand slammed it off. The person opened their eyes forcefully. The world was exposed to him in an instant. It took some time to adjust as the young teen sat up. He sighed. Why did school have to start so early?
Against his will, the boy got up and went into the bathroom. While he was getting ready, his older brother was already done. School didn't start for a half hour. This left him time to eat and text his friends. He met his mother downstairs. He sat down at the table with his phone.

"Hey mom." Mark greeted.

Grace turned around from the stove as she leaned against the counter.

"Hi. Do you see something wrong with this?" She asked.

Mark shrugged as he continued to text his pal, Greg.

"Mark..." Grace signaled.

Her son continued to text his buddy.

"Mark?" Grace repeated.

"Hmm?" Mark asked.

His mother snatched his phone. Mark looked up at her in shock.

"No texting at the table. Put it away." Grace ordered.

Mark sighed as she gave him back his device. He placed it in his pocket. In that moment, there was a knock on the door. Grace went over and unlocked it. There was a girl standing in front of her. She was smiling.

"Hi. Your Ms. Walker, right?" The visitor greeted.

"That's me." Grace confirmed.

"I'm a friend of your son's. Is it okay if I come in?" The girl asked.

Grace nodded. Mark had taken a good look at her. Her uniform contained yellow, blue, and white. The logo on her chest made it clear she was varsity. A cheerleader that is. Her long black, wavy hair fell on her shoulders beautifully. Those hazel eyes glowed from the sunlight outside. She was a wonderful sight to see.
The young lady had taken a seat next to Mark. He had seen her before, but they didn't talk much. Her popularity standards were high. A lot of people had compared her to the golden boy. And though it seemed fitting for them to cross paths and start a really good friendship, that wasn't reality. In fact, they weren't even comfortable in the same room together.

"So, are you two dating?" Grace asked.

Mark's eyes had widened as the girl blinked at her.

"No. We don't talk much. The only time we talk is if there's a game coming up." The girl informed.

Grace raised an eyebrow at her. Then, she got the memo.

"Oh, your not friends with Mark. You here to see-"

She didn't finish her sentence because she heard footsteps. Ryan had came down with his stuff. He was about to sit next to Mark, but he saw the unexpected visitor. He smiled, but still had shock written all over his face.

"Hey Ryley." Ryan welcomed.

The girl waved at him.

"Hey." Ryley replied.

Ryan walked over to her immediately.

"Wait, what are you doing here?" He asked.

"Wanted to see if you wanted to skate to school. I told your friends to meet up with us." Ryley answered.

Ryan nodded.

"Sure." He agreed.

There was a seat next to her. The fifteen year old happily took it. Ryley watched him sit.

"Alright, I've got cheerleading practice after school. After that, me and my friends were going out for some tacos. Wanna come?" She asked.

"Yeah totally!" Ryan answered quickly.

Ryley raised an eyebrow as she gave him a playful grin.

"I mean I'll think about it." Ryan switched up.

Ryley nodded. Ryan pretended to think for a few seconds.

"Thought about it. Sure." He agreed.

Ryley giggled as she played with the teen's hair. She pulled out her phone as she continued to do so. It read 7:28am.

"Snap, we gotta go." Ryley informed.

Ryan nodded. He grabbed his bag as he followed Ryley out the door.

"Yo dingus!" Mark called.

Ryan turned around. The jock made a heart with his hands. Ryan silently told him to shut up. He closed the door, causing Mark to laugh. He grabbed his backpack and headed for his car.
