Mark was busy on the football field after school. Him and his teammates were gearing up for the game against the Bulldogs. They were ranked #4 in the league. Bay City High was #3. They had to beat them. This would make them a shoe in for the playoffs. Meanwhile, the cheerleaders were pretty busy themselves. They had to help encourage the students to cheer for their team. Learning routines took lots of work. And as much as everyone loved the game, how you play it matters just as much.
"Alright ladies! Our game against the Grey Town Bulldogs is a big one. It's go time." Coach Berillo barked.
The girls sat up straighter at the tone of voice she was using.
"We may not be the boys, but we are a sport. Besides the game, we're battling those perfect little cheerers. This is our event and our fight." Berillo continued.
You heard a tackle being made as the male coach, Mr. Reynolds, blew the whistle.
"WE need to show them up. WE need to cheer them out. And WE need to take their pride and PUT IT TO SHAME!" Berillo shouted.
She grabbed a water bottle as half of the squad looked horrified. Berillo took a sip as she sighed.
"Okay, my co-captains, start 'em up." Coach ordered.
Ryley and Tiffany stood up. They made their way to the front of the squad. The girls looked up at them.
"Okay, y'all ready to kick those girls into the next century?!" Tiffany yelled.
"Yeah!" The girls responded.
That's when they all heard the boys cheering. The girls looked over as they saw the guys getting hyper. Like all varsity members, the plays and rulebook was key. And the girls had permission to do just that, even if their not the ones playing. However, who was in the center turned Ryley off.
It was him. The golden boy. Bay City High's number one sports player. The popularity bus and ultimate girl magnet. And let's not forget a crowd pleaser. Mark Walker. Ryley had only seen him during times like this. You know, the times when everyone was busy calling his name. She saw how he attracted people, just not her. It became a problem because the squad was busy looking at him. Tiffany snapped her fingers."Hey! We're not gonna look good with stupid little hearts in our eyes. Let's practice." Tiff spoke.
The girls got off the bleachers as they made their way down the field. The guys received a twenty minute break. As the young ladies made their way out, the players started peeking. And they peeked a lot.
"Ooo, look at her. She's fine." Blake Mercer complimented.
Dane nodded.
"Yeah, and check out blonde." He mentioned.
That was Rochelle Madivore. She was the one with brown eyes and a beautiful smile.
"Oh man she's hot!! Dude I gotta ask her out." Dane said.
"Bro, does she even like you?" Kyle asked.
"Yes she does. She just...isn't very open." Dane explained.
Greg raised an eyebrow.
"Open? Or just found someone better?" He questioned.
He and the others laughed. High fives came around as Dane shook his head.
"Ah come on man we just teasing. Besides, once she meets you she'll never want to date again." Ricky joked.
He and Greg fist bumped on that one. Dane glared at them. That's when one of the cheerleaders came over. She had a clipboard placed next to a varsity player. The girl grabbed it without making eye contact or making any gesture towards him. He stood up.
