Chapter Five: Monster Attack!

BANG!!

That's what you could hear miles away from the school. The process was done as Jones watched the monster come to life. It stood on it's hind legs as he faced him. Looking up, Jones was satisfied. But truthfully, he was terrified. The monster growled at him. Jones still stood his ground. That's when the monster roared at him. It looked like Jones' face was bleached as his stare on the monster was frozen with fear.

"Don't kill me." He stated in a high pitched, girl like voice.

The monster only growled once more as it left. Managing not to break the door surprisingly, the monster escaped the barrier. Jones watched him go as he contacted the boss. The phone ringed as he waited. The other line soon picked up as Jones was elated to give the news.

"Monster's been made. It's headed for the city." He informed.

The boss was outside as she moved to an area where no one could see her.

"Good! Is it menacing?" She asked.

Jones looked from the window and shrugged.

"Scary enough." He replied.

The boss was delighted.

"Oh man. This is gonna be soo good! Mech X4 better rev up. They have no idea what's coming." She spoke with a mischievous grin on her face.

She hung up as she left.

Meanwhile, a young lady was waiting outside Tanya's tacos. Her friends were going to meet her. The time passed by as she grew impatient and slightly worried. If they weren't going to show, they could have called. But what if they couldn't? What if something happened? This was a lot to contemplate.
   She checked the time. 5:32. She did say 5 exactly, right? Maybe they didn't remember that. That's when she got a text from one of her friends. She picked up her phone as she took a look.

"Can't make it. Babysitting my little brother against my will. So sorry😔." Ryley read.

She sighed as she looked back at the time. Another minute had passed. As she turned around, she saw three boys coming her way. Ryley beamed. She ran over to them.

"Hey guys! You made it." Ryley greeted.

Ryan nodded.

"Where's Gianna?" He asked.

"Yeah and more importantly, where's Paige?" Spyder questioned as well.

Ryley shrugged as she sighed.

"Gianna was stuck babysitting and Paige had to help her mom with something. So, it's just us." She informed.

"Hey, this'll still be fun. Who doesn't like a good taco?" Harris joked.

Ryley giggled. Ryan smiled. He loved her laugh.

"Now, who's picking up the check?" She inquired.

The guys looked amongst each other.

"Not it!" Ryan and Spyder yelled.

Harris looked at them all as he sighed. Ryley chuckled.

"Your lucky I just got paid." The genius little boy stated.

"Paid? For what?" Ryan wondered.

"I help my dad with chores or anything with his job." Harris explained.

"And they let you do that?" Ryley asked.

"Yes. I'm their best helper." Harris responded.

"What does your dad even do?" Spyder quizzed.

Harris was about to answer that when the ground began to shake. The four looked up to see a giant, sticky black beast. Ryan, Ryley, and Harris had widened eyes. Spyder had a look of disgust. The thing was horrible to look at.

"Oh my gosh!" Ryley screamed.

That's what everyone else in the city did as well. They ran for protection as the others stayed behind.

"We need to go!" Ryan yelled.

The three left as Ryley watched them do so. She waited a little as she took one more look at the monster. The young lady soon began to follow the crew. Was she supposed to know about something? She wasn't sure. But, she was going to find out now.
