BOOK TEN

As Joshua and Isabel were hanging out, eating popcorn and barbecue chips, they heard someone enter the front door. "Oh, that must be my mom, let me introduce you to her" said Isabel as she got up and encouraged Joshua to follow her. "Mom, this is my friend from school, his name is Joshua" "Nice to meet you Ms. Galori" "Oh, please darling, call me Keyla. Ms. Galori makes me sound old" Joshua lets out a chuckle as Keyla continues to speak "Are you staying over for dinner honey? I'm making lasagna" "Oh, I wasn't planning to but I'll call my mom and ask her if I could. Lasagna happens to be my favorite food" replies Joshua. Joshua excuses himself from the room to call his mother. "So, is that your boyfriend?" Keyla pats Isabel on the back while winking at her. "Gosh, mom don't be so embarrassing, this is my first time having someone over, he's just a friend" Just then Joshua re-entered the room to inform Keyla that he was able to stay for dinner. "Great, I'll get started on cooking" Just then, Lilian and Justin enter through the front door. "What's up dork? Oh, who's this dude?" Justin said. "Justin, be nice to your sister and her guest" Keyla replied to Justin's remark. "Sorry ma, it's just a playful nickname, right dork?" Isabel gives an uncomfortable look then replies, "Yeah, right. Anyway, Lilian, Justin, this is my friend Joshua" "It's nice to meet you both" "Oh, whatever, I'm going to my room, later" Lilian had said. "Sorry, she can be... a bit harsh" Lilian had apologized. "No worries, it's all good"
         Hours after dinner was made and ate, it was time for Joshua to head home. "It's getting pretty late, my mom should be expecting me, thank you for this wonderful dinner Keyla. Isabel, I had an amazing time, thank you for inviting me over, I'll see you tomorrow, bye" Isabel walks Joshua to the front door and gives him a hug as he heads out. "Thank you Joshua, for everything" Isabel heads back into her room and the first thing that comes out of Zeliya's mouth is, "Oooooou Isa has a crush, Isa has a crush, Isa has a crush" "I do not, he's a sweet, caring boy who happens to be attractive, but we're just friends" "Yeah, for now, watch you two are gonna fall in love and have babies. Isa and Josh sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S" Before Zeliya can finish her song, Isabel cuts in, "Quit it, we're just friends Liya" "If you say so" Zeliya shrugged her shoulders and walked off. All Isabel could think about was Joshua. She enjoyed herself so much for one day, yet at night was when reality would set it. She had no idea what was in store for her for the next four hours. Her depression kept her up, crying all night and Isabel felt as if she didn't deserve someone like Joshua in her life. He's too good of a person. I'm a piece of shit. Why does he want to be friends with me? Isabel's thoughts ran wild until eventually she tired herself out and went to sleep.
            The next morning, Isabel got ready for school. Today, she was more excited than she's ever been to go to school. Although last night was a rough patch for Isabel, she woke up feeling optimistic. She had a good feeling that positive vibes were in store for her. She was ready to face any challenges that life put in her way. Nothing was going to bring Isabel down, she felt better than she's ever felt before.
