Everything happened in a blur. When David and Anna arrived, we were rushed to the nearest hospital, and they were constantly congratulating me and telling me I did wonderful. We were fixed up, and Nash and I sat in the white hospital room for a while. We didn’t talk, but I didn’t mind. The time was spent clearing our minds and recovering from our traumatic events. Nash's family came, obviously scared to death, and hugged us for what seemed like ages. Nash held Skylynn in his lap, and told her that everything was okay now.
And this time, I knew for sure that it was.
Anna had told the Grier family about me and my mission. They felt it was necessary. I was welcomed into the Grier's home so I could stay there for the night. We would figure what will happen from here tomorrow. I knew I would leave soon, so I tried to make every moment left with Nash count.
Before I knew it, I was laying in Nash's arms, snuggled beneath his warm comforter. Andrew and his schemes felt like a distant memory. I decided that now was a good time to talk to Nash.
“You're okay right?” I awkwardly asked. It had been hours since we last spoke, and that was all that my brain could put together.
“Ya. It's just a lot to take in. I mean, we almost died..” he said quietly.
“I know. To be honest, this is the first time I was this close to dying, and I thought for sure we were goners. You were amazing though! I mean, I never expected you to be able to shot him. That’s not an easy thing to do, trust me.” I replied.
“Me either. I don’t remember much of anything that happened. One minute I was watching him raise the gun at you, and the next I was pulling the trigger. It was a flight or fight reaction, and I guess I chose to fight. I know I should try to forget what happened, but I don’t know if I want to. I mean, sure it was an awful thing, but were safe. Everything is over now, and I think I’m ready to move on.”
“Me too. I love you Nash.”
He showed me his agreement by pulling me up to his face, and leaving a kiss on my lips. The kiss quickly got heated, and he pulled me onto his lap. I had never gone this far with a guy, so I was a little bit nervous of making a fool of myself. Nash seemed to have it under control.
Nash slid his hands onto my waist, and pulled me closer to his chest. His hands found there way down to my butt, making me squirm. He realized I wasn’t comfortable, so he moved them back up. I never wanted the kiss to end, but he pulled away, and gave me a long smile.
“I wish you could stay here forever,” Nash whispered into my ear.
“Me too,” I said back.

Anna allowed me to stay with Nash a couple extra days to be sure the threat was really gone. I’m pretty sure she knew that there was none, but she felt sorry for me having to leave so soon. She wanted me to be happy, and Nash made me happy. I made every minute with him count. We went ice skating, had a picnic, and just hung around the house with Skylynn. I will miss her a lot too. She was like a little sister to me, and we both loved each other. I don’t know how I am going to break it to her that I am going to leave.
The day I dreaded the most came all to soon. The day I had to go back to the agency. I was awoken by the smell of pancakes and bacon. Nash stood by my bed with a tray full of food.
“Good morning beautiful, I made you breakfast in bed,” he gave a weak smile, and I returned a short one. We were both sad, but trying to make the best of the situation.
“Thanks, you're the best!” I took the delicious looking meal from him, and savored the food. We were both silent, and I realized that we spent a lot of time like this. The two of us were thinkers, and we enjoyed quiet times to let our brains comprehend and take in our environment.
Nash helped me pack up my belongings in my suitcases, and load them into his car. I went inside to say my goodbyes. The whole Grier family was lined up in the living room, waiting to receive a hug. They had take me in like one of their own, and I loved all of them. When I got to Skylynn, she leaped into my arms. I squeezed her tight.
“You're coming back soon, right!” she asked. I faked a smile.
“Ill be back before you know it. In the mean time, it's your job to make sure Nash stays in line, okay?” She nodded her head and giggled. I set her back down, and gave one final wave before exiting the house for the last time. It took all I had not to burst into tears.
Nash got into the drivers seat, and I took the passenger. The ride to the airport was mostly quiet, with a few conversations here and there. I watched out the window as the North Carolina scenery whizzed past us. I sighed and looked at my phone. It was 11:26, and my flight leaves at 2:00.
I looked at Nash, and noticed a small tear rolling down his face. I took my hand and wiped it away with a smile.
“Hey, it'll be okay. Pretty soon everything will be a distant memory, and you can go on to do better things. I know it hurts now, but it will get better. You'll meet other girls, and you will be happy again,” I stated, trying to comfort him, but he shook his head.
“I don’t want to move on with my life, and I don’t want to meet another girl. I only want to be with you,” Nash said, and he had a bit of anger behind his voice. Not towards me, but to the fact that I have to leave.
I look at him, and we lock gazes onto each other.
We both want the same thing, but we also know we can never have it.
