Chapter 2
I walked into the cafeteria and looked around for my group of friends. I spotted them in middle and slowly made my way over, being careful not to spill my full tray of food.
“Hey guys,” I said and sighed as I sat down.
“Hey Holly,” they all said in unison. I laughed, they all sounded robotic. I sat down and dug in.
“Hey,” my friend, Sam, nudged my side, “I heard that you get to be partners with Mr. McHottie,” she smirked slyly and I shook my head, though I couldn’t hide my smile.
“I don’t get to, I have to,”
“Well that doesn’t matter! He’s still hot and you get that honor!” Melissa added, smiling widely.
“Yeah!” said Nikki.
I laughed it off and shook my head. When I came to this school those three girls were the only ones who really accepted me and talked to me, since I was so shy. Sam is the one I’m closest with, she has long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She is tall and skinny and has the best fashion sense; she’s pretty much like my best friend Libby from my old school. She has a bubbly personality and a great sense of humor, we get along pretty great. Melissa has shoulder length dark brown hair and brown eyes, she is tall and skinny but very muscular. I guess Melissa would be the most athletic one of us since she is involved in pretty much every sport. She is also really sarcastic and loves to joke around but she is kind of rough sometimes. Nikki is shorter than us and has black hair and brown eyes; she is way quieter too. She only ever talks when you know her really well and she is kind of a nerd, maybe more than me. I was caught up in my own little world when someone’s hands slapped over my eyes.
“Guess who?” said a deep male voice that gave me shivers.
“Uhm,” I tried as hard as I could to think but no one came to mind.
The guy’s hands came off my eyes and I whipped around to see Josh standing over with his usually cocky smirk, and my face fell.
“Oh,” I said, “hi.”
Ignoring my obvious disappointment he continued to say, “So tonight I will stop by your house and we can go from there. Ok?”
I nodded, “Yep,”
With that he winked at my friends then turned and walked back to his group of friends all the way across the cafeteria. I shook my head and went back to eating my lunch. Then I looked up to my friends, who had their mouths gaping open and wide, curious eyes.
Laughing, I said, “Close your mouth that is not attractive!”
“Did he really?” asked Melissa and I gave her a curious look.
“Yep,” said Sam, popping the p.
“Holy crap,” said Nikki.
Then they shifted their shocked looks from the back of Josh to me, “What the heck are you talking about?” I asked.
They all giggled and Melissa finally answered me, “Do you not realize that he came over here just to talk to you?”
“Well yeah, that is why he would come over here?” I said, kind of like a question.
“No,” Sam explained, “Like he just needed an excuse to talk to you,”
“What? No, you guys are dumb,” I said. These guys were nuts, the only thing that guy likes about me is that he can bug me.
“Someone’s gotta cruuuush,” sang Melissa and I shot her an annoyed look.
“He likes you Holly!” squealed Nikki and clapped crazily. We all looked at her and started laughing while Nikki sat there as her face turned red.
