Aaric : (Playing with taffy)
Servant : (Walks into the prince's room) Your majesty?
Aaric : (Looks up at the servant) Yes?
Servant : You need to come with me now, it's urgent.
Aaric : Can i bring Taffy?
Servant : Sure, just follow me. (Walks quickly down the hallway)
Aaric : (Picks up Taffy and follows closely behind the servant)
At the doors to the king's room
Aaric : (Looks up at the servant) Why are we here? Did father wish to see me?
Servant : Yes.......he wants to see you one more time before he dies.
Aaric : (Shocked into silence) What?!
Servant : Somehow his food was pois-
Aaric : (Bursts through the doors and sees the king lying motionless on his bed.)
The king : Aaric? Is that you?
Aaric : Yes father it's me.
The king : Haven't i told you not to call me that? (Sees the hurt in Aaric's eyes) Well...i guess you can call me that since this is the last time we'll see each other.
Aaric : No! Don't say that! It's not true! If you die................then i'll be all alone.(A tear runs down his cheek)
The king : (Coughs) You'll get over it, i haven't been much of a father to you anyway and you won't be alone, you have that cat of yours. What was it's name again?
Aaric : Taffy.
The king : Taffy? You know it's a male right?
Aaric: I found out after i named him.
The king : Oh. Just keep that cat by your side always and he'll comfort you.Goodbye Aaric, have a good long lif- (Gasps for air)
Aaric : (Stares in horror at the king's twisting body)
Servant : (Covers Aaric's eyes) You shouldn't look prince.(Leads Aaric out of the room)
In Aaric's room
Aaric : (Sitting silently on his bed)
Servant: Do you feel better now?
Aaric : (Slowly nods his head)
Servant : And are you aware of what's to happen?
Aaric : (Shakes his head)
Servant : You are still too young to rule so your mother will assume the throne.
Aaric : Oh.
(A group of guards burst into the room)
Guard#1 : Her majesty demands your presence!
Aaric : My mother? (She knows that i still exist?) Can i bring Taffy?
Taffy : (Meows)
Guard#1 : Yes. The queen says she wants you to bring him.
In the execution room.................
