Chapter 7

Looking into her eyes once again he kisses her and then pulls away. "Let's go and introduce you to your new pack." He takes her hand pulling her towards the hatch were James is waiting for them. As they reach the other man, Gray frowns at him.

"It would be best if you wait here until my people have met Tayla and have accepted her as my mate."

James frowns back at him. "I'm afraid I can't do that Your Highness. Until I'm sure that she will be safe with your people, she doesn't go anywhere without at least one of her guards. I'm it."

Gray begins to growl at the insult to his people. Tayla tightens her grip on his hand and steps so that her body is between him and James. He tries to pull her back to his side, but she resists.

"James that isn't necessary. Gray, stop growling." She says to each in turn. "I know that one of you should accompany me, but I trust Gray to know his people. We are strangers to them, and they don't need to feel threatened by us right now or ever." She looks up at her mate. "James is second in command of my security, and takes his job very seriously. Any time I go somewhere new or will be around people that we don't know one or more guards are with me."

"Who is your head of security?"

"That would be me Your Highness." Aubrie says coming up behind them. She looks at James. "I'll go with them, you stay and help Kiefer with the others. Keep an eye on Peter. He might try to find medical, and I don't want him disturbing Greg before he's ready."

"I should be the one to go. I'm stronger... " James begins before Aubrie cuts him off.

"No you shouldn't. You're having problems with the Prince, and his people will notice that and become aggressive without meaning to. They will see you as a threat to him and to his mate. You are strong James, but you're no match for an angry lycani, I am." She points out flatly not understanding where his antagonism towards the Prince was coming from since he had never had romantic feelings for Tayla. "You will stay here and get your head on straight and figure out why you feel the way you do and get over it."

Walking past him, she puts in the code to open the hatch and turns back to Tayla and Gray. "After you Alphas." She says and bows her head never once looking out the hatch, which under normal circumstances she would to make sure there was no danger.

With one final glare at James, Gray leads Tayla from the ship. As they step from the ship he can see Caise, his beta with a few of the guards. He wasn't surprised that they were there waiting, since he had contacted Caise and told him that he had found his mate. Though he hadn't planned to bring her people with them, Caise had known that he would more than likely bring her here for privacy.

They would need to make room for Tayla's people and her friends, but there was plenty of room on the island. When he had come into possession of it, there were several small homes and huts that had been built by some hotel chain. Business fell away from the area and the owners put it on the market. It was isolated enough for his people, so he arranged to purchase it and secure it for them. They could change into their other selves, roam and hunt as they wished without worrying about humans hunting them thinking that they were wild animals. He would have to talk to both his people and Tayla's so that there was no conflict between them, especially Tayla's friends. He was sure that they had never seen a shifter, and even if they have, they have never seen one change into his other form.

"Welcome Alpha. We did not expect you to bring such a large ship with you when you returned with your mate." Caise says looking up at the ship as Gray and his mate approach with another female behind them.
