Alien Dreams

Chapter 13

For the next few days the island is fairly quiet while the pack mourns the loss of one of them. Tayla lets Kiefer and Raelynn tell the others what had happened and that no one was to speak ill of the fallen wolf. It was over and would not happen again, or be spoken of. They would go on as they had originally planned.

After a small service, where Marcus apologizes for any wrongs his brother had done, he shares with the pack the good times when they were pups. Tayla shares his memories with the human part of the pack so that they too could see that Embry had not always been how they had first seen him. With the sharing of Marcus' memories, everyone is calmer and life returns to normal.

Tayla and Gray contact their parents to let them know of their mating. They also let them know about the Margolians and the fact that they were still looking for Tayla.

"We need you to let it be known that Tayla is now mated, and that any attempts to take her will be met with aggressive force." Gray tells them. "We have a little over two and a half years left on our contract before we can leave. I don't want to have to fend off males that want my mate."

"Is there no way for you to get out of the contract?" Kaylee asks looking at her oldest daughter on the viewer. "Tayla. Can't one of your friends there on Earth help him?"

Tayla shakes her head. "I'm sorry mother, but none of the lawyers that we use at the company know anything about alien contracts."

"I'm afraid that it wouldn't matter Your Majesty." Gray says with regret. "My contract is through the Galactic council and they're very strict on completing contracts with new members. Though Earth isn't technically part of the Federation yet, the contract with them is still binding."

Next Tayla's father Thane steps to the front of the viewer. "I will approach the Council and try to persuade them to sell me your contract. There are those on Dinara that are more than qualified to fill your position there, and they would welcome the chance to see the world where Tayla has lived all these years."

"If you can get them to do that we would appreciate it father." Tayla says smiling at him. "While you are speaking with them, please let them know that there will be several Earth people that will be coming with us. We'll need to get them registered as Dinarians. I think that should be done right away, even before we leave the planet. I'll have Markis send you all of their information as soon as we know whose coming and whose staying."

"How is your pack handling the addition of humans' son?" Nicholas asks Gray concerned that there might be problems.

"Everything is good father. The pack fully accepts them as a part of us and are very protective of them." Gray assures him knowing that some packs had recently tried to add humans to their packs and had trouble with members fighting over the females and the males. "They know that they can see if any of them are mates and they know that I will not tolerate any fighting. They also know not to try to force a mating. We've already lost one wolf that thought to challenge for a mate. He under estimated the human, and lost his life."

Nicholas is shocked to hear that a human had killed one of them. "Have you dealt with this human?"

Gray frowns at his father. "There was nothing to deal with. He answered the challenge and won. If he had lost the wolf would still be dead. I will not tolerate insubordination in my pack any more than you would. He and every other wolf and cat knew not to challenge a human, but he did so any way. There is no malice for him now. He died with honor and is thought of as he used to be."

Nicholas frowns but would not question his son's handling of the situation. All packs ran differently. The younger packs were now more open minded then the ones of his generation. Though mixed mating's were now accepted by the majority of the shifter communities, it was still hard on the older shifters to accept that mates were not always of the same species. "What is the wolf's name that died? I will inform his den so that they can mourn him."
