As the celebration gets into full swing Gray and Tayla move around the lounge and dining hall talking and joking with the people. Tayla notices how everyone in the pack makes sure that Embry never gets too close to any of the women. She would make sure that all of the women from the office had an armed guard with them at all times just to be on the safe side.
"So what do you think of your new pack Your Highness? Do you think that you can put up with this mangy lot?" Caise asks handing her a glass of wine after taking a sip.
Taking the glass from him, she sips and hands it to Gray since she wasn't one for alcoholic beverages of any kind. "Not so mangy Caise. I think that all are good men and women for the most part. However, one or two I will reserve judgment on. I see no reason why we should not mesh well."
Caise nods and looks over to where Aubrie is standing talking with Tobias and one of the mixed couples. "What of your beta? Does she have a mate waiting for her?"
Tayla smiles and looks over to her friend noticing the interest Caise has for her. "No. Aubrie hasn't found her mate as of yet. Not that she's really been looking either." She admits then frowns at the reason why her friend has yet to search for her mate. "At times I worry that she will chase away all that want to mate her with her temper and her loyalty to me. Most males don't care for a female that can protect them better than they can protect themselves. I don't think she's ever let anyone except her parents see her other self. I'm her best friend and she's never shown her to me."
Both Gray and Caise can hear the hurt and sorrow in Tayla's voice as she admits this. Caise pats his new alpha on the shoulder. "Give her time. Now that you are with us, maybe she will feel more willing to letting out her wolf to play." He moves off to join Aubrie and the others. Standing close to the female and drawing in her scent.
Aubrie tries to ignore the male now standing close beside her. Though she has tried not to, she has constantly found herself searching him out over the past half hour or so. No matter how often she chastises herself not to, her eyes are drawn to him over and over again.
"Caise, we were just asking Tobias and Aubrie if they would like to run with us this evening." Dejah tells him with a smile. Though she was a small female, her cat form outweighed her human one by nearly double and none of the other male wolves had dared to try to mount her after she made an example of one that was no longer with them.
"And what have they said?" He asks looking from Aubrie to Tobias and back again.
"They haven't had a chance to say anything since my mate hasn't given them a chance." Talon tells him with a laugh and then gasps as his mate elbows him in the ribs.
"I would like to run." Tobias admits looking at Aubrie.
Aubrie closes her eyes for a moment and then opens them again. She knows what Tobias is asking even though he hasn't voiced his question. He wanted to run, but he didn't know these people, and didn't know if he could defend himself if he had to. She knew that he would be more comfortable with someone he knew and trusted with him. She was pretty sure that his cat had probably been out more than her wolf, but she couldn't let him do this alone and with strangers. She looks at Talon and Dejah before nodding without ever looking at Caise. She already knew that he would be joining them on this run whether she wanted him to or not.
"We'll join you on your run. It will be good to be able to run without worrying about being hunted or scaring someone." She tells them. "If you will excuse me, I need to speak with Tayla." Turning quickly she rushes to her friend and pulls her a little away from Gray. "I need to talk to you alone for a few minutes. Do you think you can get away for a while?"
