Lance-
"Okay now that should be all good." Pidge mumbled as she attached my mechanical leg. I looked to Keith who was sitting with his legs crossed, I gave him a reassuring smile. I knew he was on edge from be being in so much pain for the last half an hour, whilst my robotic leg was almost surgically attached to me.
"Okay! Why don't you give it a bit of a test run?" Pidge asked as I looked down at it. "It should just work like a normal leg!" She assured me and I slowly began to move the new limb. It felt so weird. "You wanna try and walk?" She asked and I nodded.
"Keith can you uh..." he was at my side in seconds, taking my arm and helping me to my feet. I grunted in slight pain, as the area on my leg was still tender, but I pushed through, walking forwards shakily. My movements slightly robotic as I tried to get used to the feeling of having a cyborg leg.
"We will have to wait a few weeks or so for you to get used to it before you'll be able to efficiently pilot again, and I may have to tweak it here and there, but other then that you should recover fully!" She smiled and I have her a slight nod.
"Thanks pidge..." I mumbled as I stumbled slightly, I was lucky to have Keith there or I would have fallen.
"I'll leave you to practice for a while, the princess said that if you think you're starting to get better at walking again, you can always go up a level and try the training simulator with it." She said and then left Keith and I to waddle about for a moment before Keith asked me.
"Are you really as ok as you're pretending to be tough guy?" He asked an arm around my back as I stumbled forwards again, forgetting to bend my leg again. I looked at the ground, letting the cheerful, optimistic façade drop as my expression went blank.
"I don't know."
Keith sat me on the edge of my bed again and sat beside me, taking my hand in his gently. "It's gonna be okay..." he whispered to me and nuzzled his face into the crook of my neck. I just nodded slightly.
I wanted to believe everything would be okay, I wanted to believe things would her better, but I think this just made my depression worse. Now, I didn't want to live to see tomorrow. I felt so helpless and like I was burden. Maybe if would be best for everyone if I just-
"Hey... lance..?" I looked to Keith as he interrupted my train of thought. "You're worth it okay?" It was as if he'd read my mind. And it was what I needed right needed. "Don't think you're anything but worth it... and on occasion admit it. You're an idiot."
I couldn't help but laugh at that, his eyes lit up at seeing me smile and i leant in, kissing him gently. "Thanks. You dork..." I mumbled and kissed him gently. He kissed me back before laying back onto the bed and holding his arms out for me, I laid in them happily and nuzzled my face into his chest and closed my eyes, needing this.
