A/N: Hi everyone!!! I am back with a new chapter! I'm going to try to focus some more on this fanfic. It's very special to me, and I want to give you all the ending eventually! Thank you for all that are still supporting me! 😊
BrrrrriiiinngBrrrrriiiinng. My phone vibrated in my hand.
Send to voicemail. Ugh. How could Violet think that I wanted to talk to her right now? That was the last thing I wanted to do. If anything, the only person I wanted to talk to was Marshall, to apologize for her being so selfish... for making a decision about something that involved my relationship without talking to me first. Maybe all this wedding crap was going to her head, or maybe Violet just wasn't the same Violet I had befriended in college, but whatever it was, it didn't matter. We needed to go on a friend break.
I dialed Marshall's number and listened to the ringer as I waited for his voice.
Yo, this is Em. Leave a message. Beep!
I sighed and began my message after the beep had stopped ringing in my ear.
"Hey babe, it's me. I just wanted to apologize for my 'friend'. Call me back when you get this. I love you....bye."
It was a beautiful day, and it would've been a shame to waste it being pissed off at Vi in my apartment. So I did what Carly's do best. I went to my favorite place in New York. Bethesda Terrace.
After a disgusting subway ride sitting next to a few unfavorable people, I had finally made it to Central Park. The last time I had been here was with Marshall, which was the first time he had ever been there. The early October breeze was absolutely perfect as it flowed through my hair and against my face. All you needed to be comfortable was a light jacket and maybe a scarf, and you were set. My birthday would be coming up soon on October 12th, and I guess I would be spending it alone. Maybe Marshall could come back up to visit me, but I wasn't going to push the subject. I was totally used to spending my birthday alone, as I had growing up as a child. Of course my grandparents were there, but I never had any actual birthday parties because I never really had any friends. It wasn't until high school that I made one or two friends, and eventually started dating here and there. I was just so used to staying home with my grandparents for my birthday, so that was just something that was never going to change.
But none of that was important. I always digress.
I took my iPad out of my bag and picked back up where I had left off in my book and began reading. I was only able to get through one small paragraph. The brief moment of bliss was, of course, interrupted as quickly as it began.
"I knew you would be here. Here's a tip: find a new hiding place."
Violet.
I stood up and grabbed all of my things and started to walk in the opposite direction.
"Here's a tip for you. Don't ask my boyfriend to buy you shit. Better yet, stay out of my relationship completely."
I could hear her running after me in her $200 heels as they clinked against the run down pavement.
"Oh yeah, because you're the relationship expert, Carly. You dated the same asshole for two years!"
"What does that have to do with you being a selfish jerk and asking Marshall for money? Especially without talking to me first?!"
"You don't even know what you're talking about," she growled.
Like a steam rolling train, she was determined to roll right over me and flatten me out with her domineering personality.
"I do know what I'm talking about! I'm talking about the fact that you can't stop meddling into my life for two seconds! Marshall is going to dump me now because he's going to think I'm only with him for his money!"
