The words in my brain and the reaction I'd had from the mans eyes shocked me. Why did that happen?I shook my head slightly as if to clear the notion from my head and tried to refocus. Zola however must have noticed my momentary lapse and came over to me.
"Fraulein - is there a problem?"
I hesitated for half a second before replying.
"No. No problem."

The words shot into my head like bullets. I shut my eyes tightly. What was going on! What was happening? I glanced at the man in the chair. He was staring intently at me.
"Fraulein!" Zola's voice cut through me.
I turned to him, trying to wipe the bewilderment from my face.
"Fraulein " he repeated. "You seem........confused?" He looked distinctly uncomfortable and on edge as he spoke.
I couldn't answer. My head was spinning. I furled my brow and looked down at the floor, desperately trying to regain my composure. This was wrong! I shouldn't be acting this way!
Zola came right up to me and in a show of bravery, grabbed me by both shoulders. "Listen to me!" he said in a raised tone. "You need to focus! This is your subject!" and with that, he pointed back to the man in the chair. "This is the Winter Soldier !"
I stared over at the man with horror and shock. This was him? He was my mission?
Zola let me go and took a step back. "Fraulein? Do you understand what I just said?"
I looked at him, a blank expression on my face and had a moment of clarity. "Yes, I understood you fine, but before I do anything, I need some answers." and with that, I grabbed hold of him by one arm and dragged him over to the other side of the room.
As I did this, the two guards who had been standing back over by the door of the cavern, rushed over to try to stop me, but I kicked at one, catching him in the stomach and sending him far over the other side of the room in a heap, and then swung out at the other with the hand that held my pistol, the force of which was enough to fling him hard against a wall and knock him out completely. All of this was done whilst still holding Zola, who was desperately trying to free himself from my iron grip.
I threw him back against a metal cabinet and held him in place using just one arm across his chest, so that my hand that held the pistol was still free. I exerted just enough pressure that I knew it would start to restrict his breathing. He looked at me through terrified eyes. "Whh - wh - what do you want? I'll do anything - tell you anything....." Zola's voice sounded pathetic to my ears.
As he said this, the man who I now knew as the Winter Soldier spoke. "Maggie......."
I jolted round at the name, still holding tightly onto Zola. The voice sounded....weird.....like there was a familiarity about it.
