"Liam?" You gently sat down on the edge of the bed and you placed your hand on his hip. "Liam, it's time to wake up and go to school." You were already fully dressed and downstairs you had prepared breakfast.

"I'm not going." Liam pulled the blankets over his head and you let out a deep sigh.

You couldn't even blame him for not wanting to go, not after what had happened the night before, not after the entire town had seen him wolfing out in the middle of the street. But you also knew that staying at home was not the solution.

Sooner or later he would have to go to school again. Sooner or later he would have to leave his house again. Sooner or later he would have to face the people and their thousands of questions. "I'm never leaving the house ever again."

You rolled your eyes. "Liam..." You grabbed the blanket and pulled it away from him. "You're being a drama queen now." You shook your head when Liam grabbed his pillow and covered his face with it. "I'm sure there weren't that many people out there. I'm sure most people won't even believe those who've seen it."

"Did you forget what happened in the library? People saw that too." Liam sat up in his bed and his lips were forming a straight line while he locked his glance with yours. "Everyone's been acting weird lately. What if they thought something was wrong and now know for sure because I tried to be a hero?" He let out a deep sigh. "And I didn't even save their lives..."

"Are you now saying that it wasn't worth it?" You raised your eyebrows. "Just because you couldn't save Brett and his sister, it doesn't mean that you should regret what has happened. You've tried. You've tried to do the right thing and that's what matters."

"It won't bring Brett back." Liam crossed his arms over his chest and for a moment you kept silent. He was right. It wouldn't bring Brett and his sister back. Nothing would bring Brett and his sister back. But Liam wasn't the first alpha who couldn't save everyone. And he would for sure not be the last one either. "I'm a horrible leader. Scott never should have left this town to me."

You cocked your head and closed your eyes for a few seconds. "You're learning, Liam. No one is born with perfect leadership skills. It takes time and yes, that sucks, but you'll get there. I believe in you. And Scott believes in you, because else he wouldn't have let you in charge in the first place."

Liam didn't say anything until he stepped out of the bed. "I don't deserve you. And I don't deserve Scott." He grabbed your hand and squeezed it. "Why are you doing all of this for me? Why are you saying all of this to me? Even after everything I messed up?"

"Liam..." You swallowed. "It's quite simple, actually. I love you, that's my reason, that's it. I love you and I think you're the most amazing person in the world. And I'm so sorry that you don't see it yourself." You pressed a quick kiss on his lips. "Come, I made you breakfast. You'll be doing great today, I'm sure about that."
