Chapter Eighteen

I was lying in my bed, staring at the ceiling. I hadn't been able to sleep the past few days, what Chelsea had said to me got me thinking. I don't even know why I was obsessing over this. I hardly knew the guy, I can't like him. We've only been hanging a few weeks and even that hasn't been anything special.

If I wanted to get enough sleep before school, then I should really sleep. But I just couldn't.

I got out of bed, checking my phone. 4 in the morning. I had to be up in 3 hours.

I walked downstairs, into the kitchen. I made myself a cup of hot chocolate, this always helped me when I wasn't able to sleep. I sat at the dining table just sipping my hot chocolate. I was already starting to feel sleepy when I finished it all.

I walked back upstairs and climbed into my bed. I shivered from the temperature difference. It wasn't necessarily cold but autumn was nearing, which meant the temperatures would start to drop a few degrees. I felt my eyes start to droop, so I just closed them and felt myself start to fall asleep.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring in my ear. I grabbed my phone and turned it off. I groaned in protest, only 2 hours of sleep wasn't doing anything good to me. I rolled out of my bed and walked into my bathroom. I took a warm shower, trying to wake myself up.

I strolled downstairs, smelling bacon. I smiled when I walked into the kitchen.

"Morning."

My dad grumbled a response at me, looking like he hadn't slept much either. My mom gave me a hug. "Morning sweetheart."

I grabbed a plate and shovelled bacon and eggs onto my plate. "Hey, leave some for the rest of us, would you?"

I rolled my eyes. "Please dad, we all know mom is going to make more. And besides, I'm still growing so I could use the food."

He snorted out a laugh. I just grinned at him.

"I heard you moving around last night. You were up late." My mom sat down and poured herself some coffee.

I shrugged. "Yeah, I couldn't sleep."

"Everything okay?" My mom gave me a look of concern.

I hummed in response. "Everything is fine. Probably be able to sleep better tonight."

My dad was eyeing me and my mom just slowly nodded. They looked at each other for a second. "I can see you guys looking at each other. Everything is fine, I promise."

I stood up and grabbed my bag. "I have to get going, see you guys later." I waved on my way out, closing the door behind me. Chelsea was already in my driveway, sitting in her car. I made my way over to the passengers side, opening the door and tossing my bag in the back. "You been waiting long?"

"Just a few minutes."

She started her engine and backed out of my driveway. "So it's Friday. You wanna hang out tonight?"

I nodded. "Wanna just a movie, we can invite Louis?"

"He said he had plans already." She rolled her eyes.

"Oh really. Since when does he have other friends."

"Since Ashton asked him to hang out with today. They've become the best of buds lately."

I laughed. "I've noticed but I didn't think they would hang out together."

Chelsea chuckled. "Oh yeah, they're having some kind of "bro's" night, Ashton, Louis and then a few guys from the football team."

"How nice. Can't believe Louis is ditching us for them." I shook my head and stared out the window. "You okay?"

I looked over at Chelsea. "Yeah why?"

"You just look really exhausted."

"I haven't been sleeping well but I'll be fine." I smiled at her to reassure her that everything is fine. She eyed me for a second and her eyes narrowed a bit, as if trying to figure me out.

"Therapy sessions going well?"

"Keep your eyes on the road." She looked in front of her again. "Yeah, everything is going well, been clean for a few weeks now. Been feeling a lot better actually."

Chelsea smiled. "That's good J. I'm happy to hear that." She grabbed my hand and gave it a squeeze. I smiled back at her. She parked her car in her parking space.

"Guess it's time for another day in hell." She winked at me as she grabbed her bag and opened her door. I sighed and groaned in response. "I can't wait to be out of here." I got out of the car and heard someone shout my name. I turned around to see Ashton walking towards me. I waved at him. "Hey Jade, Chelsea." Chelsea nodded at him as a response.

"I heard you stole our boy Louis from us for tonight."

We started walking towards the school. He laughed and nodded. "The guys and I thought it would be a good idea if he spent a night with some dudes instead of hanging out with you guys."

I rolled my eyes. "Have fun tonight then. We wouldn't want to get in the way of your "bro's night."

"Thanks we will. Think it would give him a break from having to hang out with you two all the time."

Chelsea pretended to be offended. "Excuse you, but we are a delight to be around."

I rolled my eyes and Ashton chuckled. "I'm not saying you guys aren't but he has got to hang out with some dudes once in a while."

"Sure buddy."

The bell rang and we rushed into the school to get our stuff. We all went our separate ways, saying goodbye to each other and that we'd see each other during lunch. I grabbed my books from my locker and walked to my classroom.

~~~~~~
Hey guys,
Wow, it has been forever since I've updated this story. I'm not too happy with the way I've written this story. I started this when I was like 16? I'm not sure. Once I finish this, I'm gonna edit it and try to change it. It's super cringe. But I might try to update this more often but I'm in college and my internship starts this week as well and that takes up so much of my time. Bear with me during this and I'm sorry for not updating.
Thank you so much for reading my book as well, it means a lot to me.
