The Most Dangerous Thing
By Desire Shaw
She didn't know why she bothered
What was the use?
When all that she faced was utter disappointment
But still the part of her
That pumped blood to her brain
Always overpowering it,
Made her hope again
It would be different this time
Heart said to Brain
He would not do it again
Brain rebelled against it
Tried to drown it
With logic and past experiences
But hope won out
Brain stood, watching from the sidelines
Waiting for the disappointment to come
Accompanying it utter despair
Heart still hoped, Brain still rebelled
And she fell for it every single time
When daddy said he'd be home
To tuck her into bed
So she finally recognised
The most dangerous thing on Earth
Was not hope, but false hope
