Johnny felt the rain start to fall, the cold wet drops flatting his hair. He smiled softly at he reached his hand out, letting the rain fall onto it. He then continued his trek to the 24, humming lightly as he walked.
It was days like this he happened to take in and enjoy. His feet guided him, pausing for the car before continuing on. He was keeping his eye on the prize but his mind was else where.
The soft pattering of rain was music as everyone else rain to get to a shelter. He was even more pleased with less people on the street to get in his way.
Once he got to the familiar rusted door of the 24/7, his smile turned into a child like grin. He easily pulled it open, inhaling the old scent of blood and snacks.
Though, there was a new scent that made him open his eyes as he walked in. There was a new cashier, new for town as well. His eyebrow raised at them and his grin faded as he looked at them. Their looks were rather good but right now the need for a freezie was more important.
He made the same trip, smirking at the scratches in the beat up tile from his 'talons'. As soon as he laid eyes on the old machine, his heart beat speed up and his pace quickened.
Soon his gloved fingers wrapped the largest plastic cup, sliding it off the rest with the biggest grin. Once he got it under the nozzle, it filled with cherry goodness. The coldness could be felt through his black leather gloves.
He didn't care about anything else as he grabbed a straw, humming lightly. His eyes met with the cashier's once more, and for some odd reason, they stuck in his mind.
He pulled out a few dollar bills as he sucked on the straw, trying to rid them of his mind. The cashier looked up from the book they had once more and placed it to the side as they smiled.
"Will that be all sir?" They asked with a soft smile.
He nodded as he looked at the tittle of the book.
'The Metamorphosis ' it read and he smiled softly as he remembered it.
"Yes, and that is my favorite book you know." He placed the cup down so they could scan it.
"Really? It's mine as well!" They grinned as they rung him up. "Also total is two dollars and four cents."
He handed over the bills and grabbed the cup, watching them. As they went to pull out change, he held his hand up.
"Don't worry about it, just keep the change." He then moved towards the door, locking his lips around the straw as he moved towards the door.
The rain was coming down a bit harder once he was back outside and he didn't care. The cold cherry flavor flooded his mouth and he was in a heaven.
He let his feet guide him as he savored his drink, the rain scattered all around.
His home soon came into his view and he cringe a bit on the inside as he saw it, wanting to spend a bit more time away but he didn't feel like making the walk to the cliff and didn't feel like walking the city.
Squee wasn't home either, he was at school for once since Johnny found a way to sign him up a few months ago. He hopped he was okay as well, possibly making friends too.
The scent of home filled his nose, blood and dust. He shuddered and thought to possibly get an air freshener soon. This smell was horrid to his nose.
He looked towards the table and everyone was in place. Same with the boys, right were they meant to be. Nail Bunny still on his wall, a bit of new blood ran down the wall though.
Johnny took note as he closed his door, feeling the cool rush in. The boards did some of a good job of protection from the weather, but not enough. Winter was terrible with all the snow.
His thoughts soon returned to the drink in his hand as he wanted to finish it before it melted. His soon sank into his beat up couch, looking at the knife in the arm of it. It was slightly damp from the wind blowing the rain in.
His thoughts wandered as he kept drinking, some water getting on his face. He brought his coat up a bit more to protect him from the rain. It may have been nice but now it was now annoying.
He made a mental note to change and possible take a warm shower. He shivered lightly as the wind chilled his clothing more. He grumbled lightly but kept drinking.
For once, he felt as cold on the outside as he did on the inside. Until, his thoughts drifted back to the cashier.
Wondering why they enjoyed the book, he enjoyed it for the simple fact that the main character realized the world would continue on with out him, and a few more.
The terrible sound of a straw barely picking up liquids was picked up by his ears. He looked at the cup and growled lightly at it before tossing it into the trash.
He soon got up and away from the boarded windows to take a warm shower, his skinny body could barely take the cold much more, and he despised it.
Johnny hated that he had needs for food, warmth, and sometimes, human affection. He hated it so fucking much. He found himself grabbing his towel and making it to the bathroom, shaking as he walked. Stripping as soon as he could, craving the warmth for once. The water was already running and he could feel the steam from the shower.
Once the water hit his frail body, he sighed in relief from the cold. The water almost defrosted him, but then the thoughts flooded in as nothing could hold them back now.
He held back cries but the thoughts kept coming, he couldn't help but slide down the wall. Johnny curled up as he shivered at the thoughts and thoughts that haunted him when ever he was alone and at peace.
After an hour, Johnny was in his room, drawing away his pain with happy noddle boy. He was bundled up in his clothing, pretending the past hour never happened. He already wrote it down in his Die-ary, so he really could pretend it never existed.
No matter how many comics he drew, he still thought of the cashier, and he never knew why they struck a chord in them. They were just stuck in his head and he wanted to find out why he kept thinking of them. He stared at the wall, tapping his pencil as he thought about why he might.
He knew this was going to be a long night of thoughts, and he was okay with it.
