I went around to all the pens and opened them up. My Hobblegrunt friend, jeez I really need to give her a name, followed up after me, talking to the dragons and urging them to escape. As I thought, there was a few that didn't go out no matter what I did. But the Hobblegrunt had another trick up her sleeve. She vibrated her fin and turned red in colour. Angry. Or excited. I couldn't really tell. Either way, the lifeless dragons suddenly came bursting into life and enthusiastically burst out of their lifelong pain and torment. I was fiddling with the lock on the door when the Hobblegrunt pulled me out of the way and the door was blasted to bits from the dragons' blasts. Racing outside was quite a sight to see. Oh blast it! I'm rhyming again! Asta stood outside with Runa and all the others of our grade. Chief Hiccup and his team were there too, blasting anyone who tried to intervene. I laughed happily as all the dragons I'd rescued took to the skies. All that is, except one. My Hobblegrunt friend. She nudged my hand until it rested on her snout and closed her eyes. Wow! We, I bonded with a dragon! Chief Hiccup appeared by my side. "Well done Eydis! You've trained a dragon and earned a lifelong friend". I smiled at the Hobblegrunt. "Actually. I think we trained each other". My new dragon purred and turned yellow. Happy. "Well do you have a name for her?" Chief Hiccup asked. I thought for a while and then smiled. "Yes. Aurastorm. From now on, you shall be known as Aurastorm". The newly named Aurastorm bent down her head and touched my forehead as a way of saying thank you. "You're welcome". I said. Just for her to hear.

The next day

"Chief Hiccup! Chief Hiccup! Is it true? Are we going to fly our dragons today?" I asked our chief excitedly, Aurastorm watching from nearby. "Yes, that is exactly what's happening. Besides. We need to get you guys ready. I am afraid that this new threat isn't finished. We may have freed some dragons, but there are still others out there. And we don't know how they will react in the future. So I must prepare you guys to be the new Dragon Riders" I looked up at his face in awe. Us! The new Dragon Riders?! Just like what Hiccup used to do?! But what about his team. What about Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout and the twins? Hiccup seemed to know what I was thinking. "Don't worry. Our time is over. We have other things to do now. So that's why you guys are going to go instead. You're old enough now. And you have your dragons. Now all you need to do is work together as a team. Now get going. Class is starting soon". I nodded and hopped onto Aurastorm who promptly took off towards the academy.

Arriving there I noted my fellow team mates and their dragons. Halvar trained a Snafflefang he named, Tormentar; Shelby chose a Windstriker she named, Skybuck and her close friend Kelby, a blue Monstrous Nightmare called Blazetwister. Helga got a Threadtail she called Sylvi and finally I looked over at Runa. She had a Thornridge I found out was called Kari. Aurastorm and Kari got along quite well. I sidled up to Runa to try and chat with her but she just smiled softly and said nothing. "Alright everyone" Chief Hiccup called out, gaining our full attention. "Let the training begin!".
