I found Runa in the usual spot she goes to think. The same place where Chief Hiccup first met Toothless. Her dragon Kari was curled protectively around her and growled at me as I approached. Aurastorm immediately vibrated her fin while emitting a calm colour which subsequently calmed Kari down. "Hey!" I spoke to Runa. "Oh hey" she replied back eyes downcast. "You know, I was one of the Vikings that voted you to be leader". Runa raised her eyes in surprise. "That's funny, I voted for you!" Now it's my turn to be surprised. "Why-"

"You may not know it but you have the qualities to be a fantastic leader. But for me to be leader. After what happened to my brother? I- I just can't I'm sorry" she buried her head back into her arms and sobbed softly. "I'm sorry" I said. "What?" She looked back up at me.

"For what happened to your brother".

"Don't be it wasn't your fault and it's not like you could've done something to stop it from happening"

"But I could have! We all could have! Why do you think the rest of us have been avoiding you all these years?! We've felt so ashamed that we knew we could have done something to help but we turned the other way! We couldn't bear to face you! I'm so sorry!" Runa was shocked again. "I never knew that! I always thought that you all avoided me because you couldn't bear to look at the sister of a traitor!"

"Of course not! How could we?! Wow. We should have cleared this up years ago! But... I just couldn't find the time to".

"That's alright. At least it's cleared up now"

"Yep" I agreed with her and we sat in silence for a little while.

"Well! Let's go make up with the others then!" Runa exclaimed. I nodded and we both headed back over to the others.

Halvar looked up as we arrived. He looked worried. I looked around at the others. "We have a new leader. Runa has agreed to be the leader of this team". I told them. They all looked down at their feet. "But what about-?" Asta started but Runa cut her off. "There's no need to worry about the past. Not anymore. Don't worry. All is forgiven. Now we can all move on". Everyone grew relieved and smiled at each other. "Well that's a relief. I was worried that we wouldn't get to do any cool tricks with Asta in charge" Kelby smirked. "Hey I can be a good leader! Just because I'm more fabulous than you doesn't mean I'm not good at leading" Asta retorted back. "Uh yeah it does" Shelby sided with her best friend. I left those three to bicker while Runa and I turned back to see what got Halvar so worried when we returned. He glanced at us and nodded. He knew what we'd ask before we even spoke. "When you guys were gone, a girl crash landed here on Berk with a pretty nasty wound. She's up in Gothi's hut now resting". A girl!? Crash landed!? How? I looked to Runa and she shook her head. Just as bewildered as me. "And as you've both probably guessed by now, she was riding a dragon when she crash landed. A Changewing". Halvar let the last of his words hang in the air. A Changewing? One of the dragons that are classed as 'untrainable'?? Great. Just as we finally managed to put our past behind us something like this comes up! But... at least we know one thing for sure. Together we became a team. We became... the Dragon Protectors.

To be continued.

Author Note:

This is the end of this book. I am currently writing a side story where you get to find out about the girl with the Changewing. Then I will focus on the rest of this story ark. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. This is probably one of the few books that I've actually finished so I'm proud of what I've done with it. Please continue to read my future books on this series if you enjoyed this book.
