I wake up the next day, coughing and sneezing with the memory of Andrew leaving as tears streamed down my face. My throat is sore and my eyes are puffy. I look in the mirror only to see a pale hideous thing staring back at me. I feel terrible. I walk over to the bed and lay down. At the same time, Jackson walks in and sets a bowl of soup beside me.
"What's that?" He puts his finger over my mouth and he sits me up.
"It's something you'll like. My grandmother used to make it for me when I was sick." He blows it off and dives the spoon into the bowl then slides it into my mouth. The flavor is astonishing and i feel alot better than before. Suddenly, I sneeze on Jackson and embarrassment spreads across my face.
"Am so s..." He presses his lips against mine. "J-jackson?!"
"Shhhhhhh"
"Okay, but let me feed myself." He pulls away and feeds me himself, completely ignoring what I said. He gets up and begins walking away. "Jackson" my voice was starting to become hoarse from talking and crying. "Stay with me." He smiles and climbs in bed with me. "Ja..." His lips press against mine and when he pulls away he's cuddling me. I've never been cuddled by anyone so the warmth was really comfortable. He nibbles on the rim of my ear causing me to squeak.
"Amelia, why were you with him if all he wanted from you was something he knew you couldn't give?" His words left me speechless and before I can pull away from him, he spoke again, "Why couldn't you give it to anyone?"
"I can't tell you... if I did, something bad would happen to you..." I roll on my side facing away from him. "My sister is the way she is because of it." He tilts his head to the side for a minute before shrugging.
"I'll find out even If it kills me."
That's the thing Jackson, if you knew it would kill you.
