I don't get it. Why didn't I kiss him when I had the chance?! Even though I slightly blame Benny (no offense Autumn) and my friends, it's still kind of my fault for not making them go away so I could. I guess I was too nervous.
"Lyri, you can't lay here and wallow in your own self pity." Alyssa started dragging me out of my bed. "I'm not wallowing, I'm thinking."
"Well stop thinking because you are going to go meet Ethan for a do over kiss."
I sat up quickly. "Really? No interruptions, no distractions?" I ask getting excited. Alyssa nods. "Now let's get ready."
*later*
"So where is this happening?" I ask Alyssa as we skate boarded down the street and towards the trail in the woods. "You'll see."
After about ten minutes of walking through the woods, we found a small clearing decorated in lights and flowers everywhere. Ethan stood there looking snazzy, with his hair done nicely and holding blue roses. I didn't even know that was an actual thing.
"Hey," he smiles shyly at me. "Hey," I smile back.
"Okay, I'm going to leave you guys alone. I promise I won't interrupt and neither will Benny. Benny, let's go." Alyssa says, waving her hand towards herself. Benny comes out from behind a tree bummed out.
"But I wanted to see Ethan mess this up." He complains.
"Hey!" Ethan shouts. "I'm right here."
"And I'm right here." Benny shoots back.
"Okay Benny, lets go." Alyssa drags him away.
I turn back to Ethan and smile at him. "Did you plan this?" I ask.
Ethan nods. "I didn't want to go on with life, regretting not kissing you." He blushes.
"Well," I breathed. "Go ahead." I know I sound so cool and confident on the outside, but on the inside, I'm a nervous wreck. What if something wrong happens?
"Right." He whispers and pauses a moment before leaning in. I held my breath and closed my eyes; just letting it happen.
His lips met mine, but neither one of us did anything at first. I don't think either one of us knew what to do.
I'm not going to say how magical this moment is because I am not cliche, but it was wonderful. I enjoyed every second of it.
I was upset when he pulled away though. And we just stood there staring at each other awkwardly.
"First kiss?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"Mine too."
