Chapter 22 - Re-Building New York

authors note! i started this story in 2017 i think, i believed i finished it the same year, editing it here and there. but i was just checking up on it because the reads have grown a lot since the last time i checked, and decided to look through and see what chapters were gaining the most reads etc, when i realised the last chapter of the book wasnt even published!!! im angry at myself lmao! i think i might even go back and edit some things honestly, so if anyone has any ideas as to what theyd like to see added in then hit me up!

New York City, Time Square
12:45 pm

"I love you son, never forget that okay? If you ever need to talk to me, shout for me and I'll come running okay?"

The news was raving about the Amazing Avengers and how they saved many lives and are an inspiration to so many people, but a long with the good there was a lot of bad. For example the destruction; everyone was stood in front of the many screens Stark had and watched the news. The political views were challenging Elizabeth's mind, she really wanted to change the news and citizens opinions so another war didn't stir up between the world and The Avengers; so she made a quick rash decision and quickly took off out the window leaving the others shocked.

A live camera quickly found Elizabeth soaring through the sky and were quick to follow Violeta around, broadcasting her around the world; a helicopter was beside her, making no movement to take it down.

The rest of the Avengers were staring at the screens they had in front of them that featured this live footage.

She hovered just over time square, and looked around at the damage, her heart racing; she looked at the camera her eyes burning a vibrant lilac colour, winking at it.

Her hands burst into lilac flames, she manoeuvred her hands around gracefully, her magic racing through the streets to every broken thing in site, and began to raise them so they formed their previous structure, her fingers moved with every twirl or flick of magic that came from her hands. She closed her eyes and concentrated on the powerful energy inside her, she could feel it rushing through her veins and soon enough her entire body was like a burning lilac candle, her eyes snapped open and she poured everything she had into the streets of New York. By the time she was finished it was like there was never an Alien invasion, the city was better and more beautiful than before leaving everyone who was watching the live footage in awe and wonder.

People began to file out into the streets, greeting each other and making sure no-one around was hurt, it was just like watching the celebration of the War ending all over again, a small clear tear ran slowly down her cheek, she left it there and when it fell, it rocketed through the air and hit the floor, releasing a purple dust which fluttered across that particular street, making all residents cheer with happiness.

New York City, Midtown Manhattan
12:50 pm

Thor and Loki stood just off to the side of a bridge, Tony and Bruce stood next to his car conversing about physics; Nat and Clint were talking just behind the two gods and Steve was off to the other side. Elizabeth however was flying over, getting herself ready to say goodbye to her son. She landed on the floor with a thud and everyone turned to look at her.

"Oh my stars!" She gasped, glancing at Thor "Why the hell does Loki have a muzzle on for?" Elizabeth asked Thor, not really expecting an answer.

Her face contorted with anger, a scolding look settling on her face, annoyed with the treatment Loki was receiving.

Even though Loki's pent up anger and resentment did contribute towards his need for power, everyone knew from what the Time-Lord had revealed to them, Loki wasn't in control 100% of the time. Elizabeth still couldn't place the blame on Loki.

"I asked you to love Loki, not put him in a muzzle. That's far from love, he's not a dog Thor." She scolded angrily, whilst walking over to stand in between the two gods. Loki couldn't believe the Time Lord still cared for him after everything. Thor glanced down the floor like a scolded child, a thing that reminded Elizabeth of the younger version of himself.

Mother Loki spoke telepathically to Elizabeth, her head snapped towards Loki, her eyes wide with surprise, however they softened once they saw the love in Loki's eyes, tears began to well up in both the pair's eyes. She jumped at Loki, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck, the handcuffs preventing him to hug her back, so he just buried his head in her neck.

I love you son, never forget that okay? If you ever need to talk to me, shout for me and I'll come running okay? She told him, letting go, standing back, wiping the tears from her eyes, then reached up to wipe his wet cheeks and reached up to kiss his forehead.

She turned to look at Thor "Remember what I told you" she said then walked to stand over near Rogers. Thor grabbed hold of Loki's arm and with a blinding light they were back in Asgard.

Clint and Natasha say a quick goodbye before leaving and going to start a semi-normal life.

"Where you gonna go Cap?" Elizabeth asked Steve sadly, the tears coming back to sting her eyes.

"Oh you know, go travel, see the world, try and adjust to this time period some more - I'll miss you" He said hugging her, they had only just re-united and now they had to go their separate ways; well of course they didn't have too, but Elizabeth wanted to stay with Tony for a while longer. Steve went to stand next to his motorcycle, turned back to Lizzie and saluted

"Goodbye Sergeant" He spoke to her – using her position back in the war. She returned his salute

"Goodbye Soldier" she spoke back sadly.

He hopped on his motorcycle and rode off. Elizabeth took a deep breath and watched as he rode down the new streets of the city.

Tony wolf whistled to get her attention, her head snapped towards his and a large smile grew on both their faces, Elizabeth took off running towards Tony, when she was close enough she jumped and wrapped her legs around his waist, her arms wrapping around his neck, whilst his hands were placed her thighs to keep her up, she smashed their lips together in a passionate sealing of love. When they broke apart, Elizabeth rested her forehead on Tony's

"I love you" Elizabeth said

"I love you more" He answered back smugly.

"I love you most" She whispered back and kissed his lips again.

Bruce cleared his throat from the side of the two, making them pull apart and laugh lightly, Tony put her down and wrapped his arm around her waist and led her and Bruce to his car.
