Len bolted after the shadow, sprinting down the street and making a sharp turn into the alley. It was empty, without a single soul in the narrow area.

Dammit!

He passed through and exhaled sharply, walking out and exiting to the other side, turning without looking and bumping into someone.

"Hey!" Neru pushed him back and glared at the young man, "Watch it!"

Len frowned and shook his head. "Sorry," he said. She couldn't have been the shadow. There was no way.

Neru sighed and locked arms with the agent. "I was just heading to the store, but since we've run into each other..."

"Right," Len nodded, "Where do you want to go?"

She smiled. "Are you paying?"

Len smiled back. "Of course," he said, his voice low. The two walked down the street and towards the bus stop.

It made sense, Neru being the Cause. Whether Len wanted to accept that or not, she was a suspicious character. He knew getting into a relationship was a good idea.

"Are you feeling alright?" Neru asked, tugging at Len's arm as they stopped by the bus shelter.

"I'm fine," the boy replied smoothly, eying the blonde, "You don't look too great, though. Out of breath?"

Neru's eyes widened. Len held back a grimace that was about to form on his face. She nodded slowly, looking around at the other people waiting for the bus.

"This stupid cat took something of mine as I was leaving," she explained, not meeting Len's gaze, "So I chased the thing around the area, finally catching it."

"I see," Len cleared his throat and the bus slithered down the road, stopping in front of the two.

"I hope you have fare, Len," Neru smiled as they walked in. She handed a few coins to the driver.

"Don't need it," Len flashed his bus card and nodded to the driver. He followed Neru down the aisle, finding a spot for two towards the back. He took his seat and looked out of the window blankly.

"What's up with you?" Neru asked as the bus beeped and began tumbling down the road. Len grimaced and shook his head, watching the girl's reflection stare back at him questioningly in his window.

It couldn't be her. It couldn't be her. She just wasn't the sort of person he imagined, but then again...what sort of person did he imagine? Could she really have killed Oliver? Was she trying to get close to him so that she could kill him.

That's not going to happen, Len thought to himself. Even if she was the Cause, she didn't appear strong enough to take him down.

"It's nothing," he finally said, "Where are we going?"

"Well, I had a place in mind...," the girl pulled her phone out. Len noted the cell phone's camera lens and immediately turned away to face the window again. He listened to the sounds of buttons being pressed and soon, she shoved the phone in his face.

"We could have pizza at this place. It's Italian. Really nice," she grinned. Len nodded slowly. He should have suggested a restaurant, but the problem was, he really hadn't done his research, mostly because he didn't expect someone like this girl to be the person he was looking for.

"That sounds good," he turned towards her slowly and offered a smile, "Tell me something, Neru...I know I'm new to this area, but what about you?"

"Oh, me?" She chuckled uneasily and put her phone away before pressing a finger to her chin thoughtfully, "See, it's sorta like this. My dad left my mom when I was a kid, and she started seeing this other guy, and I was perfectly fine with him, I mean, I was nine, so yeah, whatever..."
