K had slipped away through Len's window, almost like a snake, leaving the agent with the preppy blonde once again. He returned to Rin and helped her with the project absentmindedly, his mind swimming with thoughts about the Cause.

"Neru's a nice girl," Rin had said. "You better take care of her!"

"Okay," Len had replied. He was feeling sick and tired and so he had decided to stop prodding the girl for info on Neru. That could be done later, after he looked at the files the sisters had given him.

He hadn't even told K about the hooded figure, but that was intentional. There were some things that Len wanted to figure out by himself. Besides, Leslie was as much a secret as the figure. They could both very well have been the same person.

"I'll come by again tomorrow," Rin said as they got up and she tossed her bag over her shoulder. "Thanks for not being as rude as usual, Len."

Len scoffed. "I can't waste my time on you anymore," he answered. She crossed her arms and rolled her eyes.

"Okay, fine, whatever," she said. "You still have to walk me home."

"What?"

"You heard me," Rin smirked. "Come on, Len. Please? I'm a beautiful young woman who could be attacked any minute!"

"Learn to save yourself," Len scowled. "Besides, you're not worth the trouble."

"E-Excuse me?" Rin glared at him and he laughed.

"Fine, fine," he said. "Let's get this over with."

"Yay!"

As Rin and Len walked down the streets, the girl blabbered, going on and on about various things. Len thought about the Cause. What did it actually want? He decided that he was being too lax. After dropping this girl off, he'd go home and do some serious research.

"I still don't understand," he mumbled halfway to Rin's home.

"What don't you understand?" She asked sweetly.

"What was...my friend talking to you about?"

"Oh, you mean the really good looking guy?" Rin grinned, a faint blush daubing her cheeks.

"Hey, I thought I was the good looking guy."

"Oh, you're pretty nice, but he's downright hot," Rin put a hand to her heart. "I want to do so many dirty things with him..."

She giggled and Len rolled his eyes, feeling a slight pinch inside of him. Since when was K the one the ladies swooned in the presence of? Seduction was Len's job, not his.

"He told me a joke," Rin continued.

"Really?"

"Yeah!" She nodded. "But I can't remember the joke..."

Len scoffed. "Is that your house?"

Rin's eyes lit up. They were nearing a quaint, plain looking house with a navy blue roof. "Yes! Thank you!"

She ran up the porch steps and knocked on the door. Len stood down below, clearly uninterested.

"You have to meet my mom!" Rin smiled.

"Ugh..." Len groaned. "Fine, but make it quick."

Rin nodded as the door opened. "Mom! There's this friend of mine that you have to meet! He has to leave soon, so..."

Len glanced up as Rin moved out of the way and a middle aged woman stepped out onto the porch. She smiled warmly at Len, waving to him. Reluctantly, the agent waved back.

"This is Len, mom," Rin introduced the agent. "Len, this is my mom, Namie."

"Er, nice to meet you," Len said quickly. "I have to go now, it's getting dark."

"Of course," Namie nodded. Len exhaled and turned, briskly walking away. "I hope we'll see you soon, Len!"

Yeah, right.

Len hurried back home and the darkness settled in. He froze when he saw the front door. It was open, not wide open, but open slightly, as though whoever had gone in wanted Len to know that.

...Wanted to tease me...

Nimbly, the agent worked his way up the steps and peered around. He had a small gun with him but that was all. He pulled it out and slowly kicked the door open. It creaked. The inside of the house looked the same, save for a few choice things that had been scattered here and there.

Len passed through the kitchen, where a box of strawberries lay on the counter, opened. It looked emptier than before. He continued, going through the living room. The television was off, as he had left it, but the remote was in a different place.

Next, he decided to make a beeline for his room.

Len slithered through the darkness silently, his eyes wide and his grip on his handgun tight. He approached his room and inhaled before kicking the door open and stepping in, aiming at the body splayed out on his bed, a slender, unmoving figure painted milky by the moonlight.

She looked at him with her large eyes and Len's right eye twitched slightly.

"Sarah?" Len whispered. The girl's eyes met his and he took a step closer.

"Len," his name rolled off of her tongue smoothly. She sat up straight. Her small, black nightdress was rumpled. The lacy straps hung off of her shoulders. Len felt a sudden urge to pull the entire thing off of her body. He looked down at the carpet quickly.

"Why are you here?" He asked slowly. The girl shifted herself slightly, pulling one leg over the other. Len glanced at her pale, perfect legs. He looked away again.

"K sent me," she said, "I heard about the call."

"Yeah..." Len mumbled. Sarah slowly got to her feet and walked towards the blonde.

"He sent me to...comfort you," she whispered, sliding her arms under his and clasping his back. He lowered the gun and she sighed softly against his figure.

"I told you not to..."

"I'm not going any further," she interrupted him, her mouth inches from Len's. He wanted to kiss her perfect lips. Resisting was difficult, "This is all I'm here for. What if...what if I never see you again?"

"You will," Len mumbled. He gently dropped the gun to his feet and began toying with the straps of her dress. Sarah nuzzled his neck, kissing it gently.

"I'm going to yell at K...," Len whispered, "He sent you when I ordered you not to be here..."

Sarah kissed his jaw and Len pulled the straps down, tugging at her dress.

"It's my fault," she said, pulling back, "I came by earlier and he..."

"What?"

Sarah smiled. "The one in black? That was me."

Before Len could say anything in return, she pressed her lips against his and kissed him passionately. They closed their eyes and Len clasped her hips. She ran a hand through his hair and they slowly pulled away.

"Why...?" Len exhaled, dizzied from her kiss, "Why were you..."

"I'm sorry," Sarah shook her head, "I was worried. I wanted to ask the students if they had seen you. K told me not to leave any witnesses but I couldn't just kill two innocents...so I threatened them."

She caressed his face and Len remembered the throwing knife.

"Why did you throw a knife at me?" He asked. She grinned.

"Never meant to hit you, you know," she said, "Just wanted to make sure you were on your toes."

Len closed his eyes and grimaced. "You caused a lot of trouble."

"I just wanted to make sure you were okay."

"I'm not going anywhere."

She kissed him quickly, admiring his features in the darkness. "I'm sorry."
