Courtney need her sleep. With all her work and stress, she needs every minute.
Wes is very respectful of this, and tries to be quiet once the light in her room goes out. He doesn't always succeed, but Courtney appreciates the effort.
One night, after a day full of writing, shooting, and wanting to hit Joven with a baseball bat, Courtney went to bed immediately.
"Do you need anything?" He asked.
"I need nighttime to be longer and the coffee to be stronger." She mumbled, closing the door behind her. Wes had seen her worst, and this was one of those nights.
It was around midnight, and Wes was still playing Overwatch with Boze. Every time he wanted to go to bed, she shamed him out of it.
Then the alarm began to beep...blare, rather.
Wes signed off, even though Boze said he was lying, and went to Courtney's room.
"Just leave me," she mumbled when he entered, "I want to burn."
"Ok." He walked over to the bed and scooped her up into his arms and carried her out of the apartment.
She smiled, "You're the best."
He carried her to the sidewalk, where the other residents were gathering. Turns out, the alarm was set off by some idiots vaping in the elevator, so that's why the firemen where there.
"You can go back inside, folks," the chief said after about ten minutes, but Wes was still holding Courtney in his arms.
One of the fireman approached him,"Is she alright?"
"Yeah, she's just sleeping."
She really had fallen back asleep. He carried her back quickly, so the other residents wouldn't wake her.
He gently laid her back in bed, "See you in the morning, Court."
She reached out and grabbed his hand, "Thank you. I would do that same for you, if it were physically possible"
The next morning, Courtney was grumpy, but Wes made the coffee extra strong, so she had a good day, and so did he.

Yeah...that was a little messy. Sorry!
