I'm pushing my way through the branches attacking my face, stepping on wet leafs and tripping over sticks. I see nothing but darkness, pitch black, the roaring of the thunder hitting my ears and the flashing lights of the lightening coming down hitting the tree tops and the path in front of me. Looking back to see that 'it' was right behind me, pushing the trees out of its way and continuing to chase me. My vision is starting to get blurry and is slowing me down, but I know that if I stop now, it will be the end of me. Lightning strikes again but getting the tip of my toe.
"AHHHHH!!!" I screamed so loud the crows lose their spot in the trees and fly off.
I suck up the burning pain in my toe that is starting to go up to my leg. My long light brown hair sticking to my red sweaty face, my eyes watering from the pain that I'm feeling. Bloody scratches and marks left on my body from the trees' pointy branches. The ground is shaking and from the 'thing' behind me making my head spin. I run into a cave hoping that it would be the solution to my problem, but it wasn't, the monster tore the top of my safety off, reaching it's big sweaty hand down towards me. I'm out of breath, breathing heavily taking steps back only to stop at the dead end of the cave. My back is pressed up against the rocky wall stopping me from my freedom. A laugh escapes the beasts' mouth as his hand inches closer to me it was now or never to do what I've been planning to do all day.
*****Present Day*****
"Seven more days until my 16th birthday!" I yell to my mom while marking an X on the day it was.
I reach into the fridge and grabbed an apple, taking the sticker off and throwing it away.
"And in eight days you'll be picking up the mess you made from your birthday." Mother teases.
I mock her words loud enough for her to hear in a teasingly way and take a bite of my apple. I walk over to my mom in the living room and sit next to her on the couch.
"So....." I say looking at my mom.
"What do you want Carma?" She asks, taking her focus off of the TV.
"Give me a hint of what my biggest present is!" I complain throwing my head back.
"No for the thousandth time Carmen, I'm not telling you." She replies emphasizing the word 'not'.
"UGH!" I groan, "Well if you don't tell me I swear that I will find out for myself." I respond competitively.
"Well good luck with that." Mom laughs.
We sit there for a while with no sound but the TV.
"So can you give me an early present." I say fast enough to get it out before she could speak.
"Carmen!" She yells in an annoyed voice.
"I'm sorry, I just need to know!" I yell back.
"Go... call one of your friends or something, stop bothering me." She says playfully hitting me on my shoulder.
My mother is like my best friend in the entire world, I can tell her anything, We do everything together. My friends think of her as 'The Cool Mom' but I don't really understand what they mean by that. Sure my mom and I do things that most mother and daughter don't do but, that's just how my mom is.
"But I don't wanna." I complain with a whiny tone in my voice.
"Well then stop bothering me." She says.
"But I'm so bored." I continue.
"Go to sleep then."
"No!" I say throwing my head back and kicking feet in the air.
"Well then I don't know what to tell you then Carma." She says ending the discussion .
I walk upstairs to my room and plop my body on my queen sized bed laying on my silky red violet bed set with flowers at the foot. I pull out my iPhone and pull up my best friend Taras' number.
Me: Hey Tara.
Tara: Hey what's up.
Me: Nothing, I'm so bored, my mom won't tell me what I'm getting for my birthday.
Tara: LOL well I can't tell you because you didn't tell me what I was getting.
Me: YOU KNOW!!!
Tara: Yeah I know.
Me: Is it something that I'd actually like?
Tara: I can't tell you, just wait until your birthday.
Me: Tell me if I'd like it or not.
Tara: No, did you just text me to tell you what you were getting for your birthday or did you text me because you wanted to text me.
Me:It's about 50% for each of the things you just said.
Tara: Well I gotta go.
Me: What, why?
Tara: Because I have to go to sleep.
Me: Girl it's nothing but 6:47 p.m.
Tara: Well then I have to go eat dinner, I'll text you tomorrow okay?
Me: Mmhm, fine bye.
Tara: Bye.
I throw my phone down to my waist and stare at the ceiling.
"Really Tara, you had to go eat dinner even though you sent me a picture one hour ago of what you were eating, really." I say to myself.
I get up and walk to my bathroom picking up my brush and brushing every strand of my long thick brown hair into a perfect classic ponytail. I pick up my glasses from the soap dish and place them on my perfectly tanned face. I exit my bathroom and enter my closet pulling out my grey pajama pants and a neon orange tank top putting them on. I walk over to my bookshelf, where my slippers were and place my furry little friends onto my feet. I lay back down on my bed and prop my head up on my silky pillow case. I reach over to grab my remote and turn on my 80 inch flatscreen TV hanging right above my little bookshelf directly across from where I was laying. I sigh in bordom and eventually fall asleep.
