Opening my front door I hear no noise from inside my house, my dad doesn’t usually come home from work for a couple more hours, he is a lawyer. The silence in the house didn’t usually bother me, since I prefer to be alone most of the time, but today is seemed to be very empty. I am now left alone to my thoughts, and for once that thought scared me, not because what I wanted to think about was scary but rather who. Adam.

I met him less than five minutes ago and yet he seems to be the only thing I am thinking of, the only thing I want to think of. I didn’t understand why and thinking about it hurt my head, so I headed up to my room and went to sleep.

I woke up just over an hour later feeling no more rested than I was went I fell asleep, if anything I am now more tired and worn out. I fell asleep with no problem, the problem started after I was asleep, started with the dream I had. I was watching myself do things and others reactions but I couldn’t do anything, it was like an out of body experience, it went like this;

The school hallways were full but I couldn’t see myself, at first I thought that I was just watching everything as myself from the place I was, but I was wrong. Next thing I knew the school doors opened and in I walked with Adam, we walked down the halls to my locker, hand-in-hand. I thought that was weird enough but it got even weirder, next thing I knew Katie and her two girls walked up behind me, at this I gulped and waiting for the insults. The only thing is; none came. Katie and her two girls started talking to me about their shopping trip yesterday and how it sucked that I didn’t go with them. That isn’t the weirdest part yet, next Jonathon and Lucas came up to me and the rest of the group that was standing around my locker.

“Looking good today Ally,” Lucas said with a wink,

“Oi, Lucas back off bro, she’s taken. Seriously, are you blind or just stupid?” I heard Jonathon say gestured towards my hand which was still linked with Adam’s.

“Yeah bro, back off, she’s mine” Adam said, his voice making me melt just a little on the inside.

This is the last thing that happened before I woke up; I decided to head downstairs to see if my dad was home yet, I am now hungry. Running down the stairs like someone or something was chasing me I see my dad’s car in the drive way through the front window.

“Dad?” I call

“Yes Al?” he replies from the kitchen, Al is his nickname for me when he’s trying to be funny. I head over to the kitchen to figure out what he’s doing in there, though I don’t really have to go very far till I know. The closer I get to the kitchen I can smell my dad’s special sauce, he is cooking dinner. I love how he knows that I’m hungry without me having to say anything to him.

“Smells good Dad,” I say when I enter the kitchen

“Thanks hun,” he says without looking up from the pot he is currently slaving over, “oh before I forget, we are having guests over for dinner tomorrow”

“Oh okay, who?”

“One of my new work mates and his family,” I can’t help but think about who it is and if they are going to be very nice, I don’t really want to sit through a dinner and be judged, especially not in my own house.

“Well, food’s nearly ready if you want to set up the table, just us tonight,” my dad says, turning around and sending a wink in my direction.

“Sure thing dad,” I say then leave the kitchen and head into the dining room and start setting up the table for dinner. Two plates, two glasses, a few hot mats for the pots and utensils; simple. After doing this I go back to the kitchen to see if my dad needs any help carrying the pots to the table. I end up carrying the pot with the pasta to the table while my dad carries the pot with his special sauce in it. Setting down the pots and serving up two plates of food, I start to eat.

Dinner is a silent affair; the only sounds are the utensils scrapping on the plate every time either of us takes another mouthful. After eating and cleaning up, which includes me doing the dishes while my dad packs up the leftover, I head upstairs and crawl back into bed. Normally I would do my homework now but since I don’t have any I pick up my book that I was reading yesterday and read a few chapters before I drift off to sleep.

BEEP

BEE-

My alarm wakes me up and signals that it is once again time to go to school, last night I had a peaceful, dreamless sleep. Rolling out of bed I head to the bathroom, turning on the shower at its highest and hottest I jump in. After a quick shower I jump out again and head to my closet to pick an outfit for the day. Today’s outfit is; a pair of red skinny jeans and a black long-sleeve turtle neck, I also grab a jacket just in case it gets cold, which is likely. The rest of my morning routine is the same as the day before, head downstairs grab some food and head out to school.

Today is different for two reasons; first it isn’t as cold outside this morning but the second happens when I arrive at school. Something seemed different when I walked in through the doors, everyone seems a little more alert than yesterday and I keep hearing the words; new kid. All of the girls seem to be applying more make-up and fixing their hair which leads me to believe that the new kid must be male.

My suspicions are confirmed on my way to my locker for which I have to pass by the front office, not something I normally mind expect for today-

“Alison, can you come here for a second dear?” I heard Miss Kingsley call as I passed by her office. Miss Kingsley is in charge of almost everything at this school; however she is not the principal.

“Umm, sure,” I say as I turn around and head inside, looking into the office I notice that she is not alone, a boy is standing in front of her desk and she is handing him a few papers.

“Will you show him around dear? That would be lovely.” Miss Kingsley says after she hands him the papers. So he must be the new student, I open my mouth to reply but I am stopped when he turns around. It is the boy from yesterday, Adam. I can no longer form a thought or a reply and I am left standing there with my mouth hanging open, probably looking like an idiot.

A/N: The italic part that is near the beginning is her dream, just thought I should point that out and make it clear :)

Please comment what you think, it would mean a lot :)
