Soon, after all that commotion, I fell asleep, not that you could really blame me, I was still recovering from injuries and all of that talking was tiring. But I swear that I only got to sleep for like 5 minutes before I was woken up by the sound of the door opening. I mean I was a light sleeper, like really light sleeper, if I was only partially asleep I could be woken up by the sound of a pin dropping onto the floor, which is quite something. I guess that’s the main reason I always sleep while listening to music, it drowns out all of the other sound, and I can sleep peacefully. But enough about my sleeping habits, you creeps why do you want to know about those, back to the events at hand, back to why I was woken up, or rather who woke me up.
“Hey Alison, you are awake! Good,” it was the same doctor that was there the last time that I woke up, Doctor Lou; and he looked like he had something to say.
“Just spit it out Doc, what did you come in here to ask me or tell me?”
“Well, there are a couple of people here to see you, I told them that you are tired and need to rest, but they insist that they have to see you now, it’s okay if you don’t want to see them, I can make them leave, it’s your choice.”
“It’s okay Doc, I’ll be okay, I’m awake now, you can send them in,” I told him, because in all honesty I wanted to know who it was and why they wanted to see me.
“Alright, I’ll go get them,” he said, as he left the room, closing the door behind him. Not even two minutes later the door opened again, this time it opened about ten times louder than it did the first time. And the two people that entered the room through the open door were some of the last people I expected to see; Lucas and Jonathon. Surprised? Yeah, so was I.
“Yo little Alli!” Jonathon voice echoed of the walls in the little white room, “whadup shawty, how you doing?”
“Firstly, I’m doing just fine,” I said holding up one finger, “secondly, you’re not a gangster or a rapper, so stop talking like that,” I told him, holding up a second finger, wow I’m still pretty funny, even when I’m in a hospital.
“Alright, alright calm down, I’ll stop,” Jonathon said as he sat down in the chair next to my dad, who was asleep, “but are you sure you’re okay? Adam wouldn’t tell us everything that happened, but he implied that it was pretty bad.”
“Yeah, Alli, are you sure you’re okay?” this time it was Lucas’ voice, “you look pretty beat up,” almost as a reflex I reached down to check that none of my stomach was showing, which it wasn’t, but I needed to check, just to be sure.
“Yeah, I’m feeling much better, thanks guys,” I said looking at both of the twins, Jonathon who was still sitting in the chair next to my dad, and Lucas who was standing next to the bed that I was currently lying on, “but seriously why are you guys here?”
“Trying to get rid of us so fast?”
“No, just curious.”
“Curiousity killed the cat you know,” I internally flinched at the use of the idea of death in his sentence, considering that I have been threatened by this idea many times, but I decided to put that aside and go with the witty response.
“Ah yes, but satisfaction brought it back, now are you going to answer my question or not, Jonathon?”
“I guess I will, unless Lucas wants to,”
“We heard what happened to you, or at least some of it, from Adam and we decided to come check and make sure that you’re okay,” I guess that Lucas did want to tell me why instead.
“Oh okay,” I said, trailing off a bit towards the end. The next few words that I said came out of my mouth without my permission, but no harm done, right? “But one thing, if Adam told you what happened, or at least part of it, then why isn’t he here?”
“Well that’s the second part to why we are here, he wanted us to come check on you, apparently since what happened to you was so bad, he didn’t want to see you unless you were okay, he didn’t think that he could handle it, he thought it would be too hard to see you that way again.”
“Oh,” was my only reply, the only thing that I could reply with, I was the one in hospital, I was the one hooked up to different machines and wires in order to keep me stable, but he was the one that might not be able to handle it, it would be too hard for him. Great, just great; I’ve got a crush on a major wimp, the one guy that I’ve ever met with no backbone, lovely.
“Okay, so maybe he didn’t say that exactly, but his face did, his face gave away his true thoughts,”
“That boy has a very expressive face, unfortunately for him,” Lucas clarified, just in case I didn’t get it the first time, when Jonathon said it.
“I’m sorry Alli, but my brother and I have to go now, we will come back later and check on you, don’t you worry,” again it was Jonathon that spoke. I simply nodded in reply. Instead of saying goodbye, both of the twins gave me a kiss on the cheek and ruffled my hair before exited together through the door, making sure to shut it firmly behind them.
About five minutes later, my dad woke up again, and after announcing that he was going to go home, get changed, get something to eat and maybe do some work, he left as well. So I was, once again, left alone in a small white room, with only the beeping machines and my thoughts to keep me company. It stayed this way for the next half an hour, safe to say that I was starting to get a little bit stir-crazy. Luckily for me, about five minutes after I got sick of hearing the machines beep continuously, the door opened. Thinking that it was my dad, I kept staring up at the ceiling and offered a quiet, mumbled, hi.
“Alison?” I heard someone say, someone that most definitely not my father, looking away from the ceiling, I managed to sit myself up so that I could look at the other person that was now in my room.
“Adam?”
