 BEEP.

BEEP.

BEEP.

I wake up to my alarm blaring right next to my ear, rolling over I hit the off button and the sound immediately stops. I manage to drag myself out of bed and into my bathroom to get ready for another day of school. After showering and washing my hair I walk back into my bedroom to finish getting ready, I still have to get dressed and dry my hair. I start with drying my hair so that I don't get my clothes wet, after securing the towel around my body I grab my blow-dryer and get to work on my hair. Around ten minutes later my hair was dry and up in its usual pony tail, I had picked out my clothes and I was currently getting dressed. Today I had picked a pair of blue skinny jeans with a grey v-neck top as my outfit, simple but it looked really cool.

Less than thirty minutes later I was at school, having eaten breakfast before leaving the house obviously, and I was half way to my locker. Once I arrived at my locker I immediately opened it to get out all of my books for my first few periods. A hand was placed on my shoulder and I spun around to face Adam, if someone had put their hand on my shoulder a month ago I probably would have freaked out, but this was what Adam always did so it no longer fazed me. After a month of dating someone I guess your normal can change. Adam got his books from his locker and together the two of us headed to our homeroom class, the same as we had done every day for the past month. Every once in a while he even held my hand, just one of the perks of dating someone I guess.

After Adam and I started dating I told my dad about it, and you can only guess how that went.

"Hey Dad, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked when I got home from school.

"Yeah sure, just a second sweetie."

It took him a couple minutes to get downstairs, goodness only knows what he was doing, and by then I was already sitting in the living room waiting to tell him about Adam and I. As any normal person would be, I was worried about what he would say.

"What's up Alli?"

"You remember Adam right?"

"Yeah, he's the boy next door."

"Yeah, well a couple of days ago he asked me out, and I said yes," I told him, but whispered the last part, worried about what his reaction would be.

"Are you sure about that honey, you know with the whole Ryder situation and everything?"

"Yes I'm sure Dad, I'm sick of letting Ryder have control over my life and I really want to date Adam."

"Then that's okay with me, I give you my permission, if that's what you were looking for,"

"It was, thanks Dad."

"You're welcome, but you do realize this means he has to come over for dinner now, right?"

"Of course I do Dad,"

Yeah, that went much better than I thought it would, I expected at least a little bit of yelling, but I guess he just wants me to be happy.

"Alison?" I hear Adam call my name from his seat next to me. The two of us were currently sitting in our last class waiting for the bell to ring so that we could go home.

"Yeah?"

"The bell just went, are you ready to go?"

"Oh, yeah of course, I didn't hear the bell go."

After packing up our stuff the two of us make our way out of the school and start walking home, all the while just talking about random things. When we got home Adam walked me right to my door before heading back down the drive and to his own front door.

"I'll see you tonight?" I call to him before he walks into his house.

"Yeah of course, I wouldn't miss it," he calls back and then he disappears inside his house. My dad had made me invite Adam over for dinner tonight because apparently they need to get to know each other even more or something like that.

Once inside my own house I put down my school bag and head into the kitchen, in search of my dad. And there he is, still in his work clothes, bending over the stove stirring something in a pot. He looks up when I enter and gives me a smile before his attention is back on the pot, and whatever lies inside.

"What are you doing Dad?"

"Making dinner."

"Oh, you want any help?"

"No, I'm fine, you can just sit there and tell me all about your day,"

"Alright Dad," I said after a small chuckle escaped my lips at my dad's peculiar actions, but then again he did this all the time so it's not like it was very abnormal, for him at least. So I sat at the kitchen bench for the next three hours while he cooked different things for dinner and I just talked with him, a little bonding time I guess. It was 6:40 by the time I had the thought to look at the time, the sun was already down and Adam was supposed to be coming over in around ten minutes, oops.

"Dad, its 6:40!" I called out to him as soon as I saw the time.

"You better go get ready then, I'll stay here and finish up the preparations," he didn't have to tell me twice. Less than a minute later I was upstairs and already going through my cupboard to find an outfit. Once I settled on a nice loose fitting dress and ballet flats I headed for a shower before getting dressed and rushing back downstairs. By the time I made it downstairs again it was 6:58 and Adam was due to be here in two minutes. I checked on my dad and saw that he had already set the table and all of the food was sitting on the table, chicken, mashed potato, gravy and vegetables all nicely laid out. As soon as my phone changed from 6:59 to 7:00 I heard the door bell ring and I raced to get it.

"Good evening," Adam said as soon as I opened the door, he was dressed in a blue shirt and a pair of black slacks, he looked really good.

"Evening." I replied.

"Ah Adam, good to see you, please come in," I hear my dad call from behind me. Adam quickly followed his orders, ducking inside the house and following my dad into the dining room. I shut the front door and just watched the two of them for a moment, they looked really comfortable around each other and that made me really happy.

We probably started off on a bit of a rough patch.

"Hey Adam did I tell you about the time that Alli-" I heard my dad start to say but I cut him off before he could finish his sentence.

"Dad, not now, or ever," I told him after I ran into the dining room, I didn't want my secrets out yet, especially the ones that my dad knows, 100% cringe-worthy. I could hear Adam quietly chuckling at our exchange.

But I had a feeling we were going to be just fine.

THE END.
