[dan]
hesitating, dan walked into the room to see phil. he entered slowly, letting the door knob slip from his fingers the door shutting lightly.
he looked up to phils bunk, raising his eyebrows when he saw nothing. nothing under the covers and no other body in the room.
the window was open, the wind causing the curtains to sway around. the cold making dan shiver, he walked over to the window and looked outside and saw cars passing and rain clouds.
where could have phil gone?
•
clueless, dan was clueless. phil had snuck out, leaving their window wide open. dan walked around the neighbourhood for a bit, but had given up due to rain.
dans shoes pattered against the puddles, making his way back home in the windy weather. his thin cotton hoodie barely doing anything to keep him warm.
the sun had been setting, the evening getting darker and darker by the minute. but dan was in no rush to get home, not minding the wind and slight drizzle also how it was beginning to get dark.
dan crossed a cross walk, beginning to walk on another road near is house. he let his eyes fall shut for a couple seconds as he walked.
once he opened them again, a figure was sitting on the curb a cigarette in between their fingers. their head immediately turned when they heard the splash of a puddle, caused by dan walking.
they had beautiful pale skin, and brown eyes that caused dan to awe over them. the males lips were sealed tightly together, but a grin found his face once he saw dan.
when dan got closer the male stood up and walked beside dan, "hey i'm charlie and i find you very attractive." charlie greeted.
"wha-what?" dan choked on air, stopping in confusion and his eyebrows furrowed together in confusion.
"charlie casey, that is." the boy smiled, putting a hand through his bleached strip of hair that stood out in the rest of the black hair.
"i have a boyfriend," dan flushed, his face turning red. but charlie just raised his eyebrows.
"wow," charlie chuckled breathlessly. "not even going to introduce yourself first? just go straight to the 'i have a boyfriend' thing? maybe i was just calling you attractive cause you are." charlie said with a laugh at the end.
"oh, uh, sorry i'm dan." dan hesitated, charlie smiled. "so, why are you talking to me?" dan asked as he began to walk again, charlie following behind.
"i just wanted to talk to you, you seem pretty cool and you looked lonely." charlie shrugged, putting his cigarette in between his plump lips taking a puff.
"you shouldn't smoke," dan said. "its bad for you, it kills you." he continued. charlie chuckled.
"i'm here for a good time, not a long time dan." charlie said truthfully, dan gave him a questioning look.
"why not be here for a long time, don't you ever wanna find out what you do when you're older and have a family?" he replied.
"life is a living hell dan, now lets move topics and talk about something else- lets get to know eachother." charlie said brushing the topic off.
"do you like cats?"
"what kind of question is that?"
"a good one."
"ok buddy."
•
the boys had talked all the way to dans house, now they were sitting on his porch laughing away all their problems.
the sun had fully set and it was now dark, the porch light the only thing keeping them from complete darkness- except for the street lamps.
dan didn't know why he had opened up to charlie so much, but there was something about him that drew dan in.
"hey its best i get going now dan, it was nice meeting you though. here's my number," charlie winked. "call me some time love." he said before handing dan a slip of paper and jogging off into the rain.
dan rolled his eyes at the pet name and walked inside, putting charlies number into his phone as he did so.
when dan entered the house he immediately ran up the stairs making thumping noises, and jogged into his room.
•
he had successfully showered before phil had arrived home and gotten into bed, he was staring at the top bunk when phil opened the door.
he looked drained and worn out, phil turned on the bright light shutting the door lightly. he looked at dan carefully, studying his facial features to see if he was awake.
dan turned his body towards phil and opened his eyes, phil sighed giving dan a slight smile.
"hey," phil spoke steadily. "how was your day?" he asked. dan tried to hide his shock, phil had never once tried to talk to dan for the whole time he's been here.
"uh," dan gulped. "it was good i guess, how was yours phil?" dan wondered, sitting up on his side looking at him.
"it was shit," phil laughed. "but i tried to make the best out of it i guess." he sighed. dan nodded his gaze wondering around the room.
"i know you don't like me asking questions often, but where did you go after you snuck out?" dan hastily asked.
phil hummed, looking out the window as the curtains were wide open. "i went for a walk to let out stress, ended up going to a friends." he told dan.
"why were you stressed?"
"reasons."and dan could tell phil didn't want to talk about those reasons as phils tone had changed, so dan nodded letting phil be alone for a couple of minutes.
phil began to strip down to his boxers, and he shut off the lights and climbed up to the top bunk.
"dan?"
"yeah phil, what is it?"
"sorry for intruding in on your life."
"what do you mean?""well, i just like- showed up one day and invaded in on your life. helen never told you that i was gonna show up one day." phil ranted.
dan sighed, "you didn't invade my life phil. you just entered it in an unexpected time, and i don't mind it." he said, half the truth at least.
the truth was, dan did mind it. but he didn't have to tell anyone that. did he? dan heard phil let out a sigh of relief.
"goodnight dan, i'll talk to you in the morning." phil finally said, and dan raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"goodnight phil." dan replied, before letting his eyes fall shut. this side of phil was different, different than any other time he had talking to him. what made him finally talk to dan?
or was he just finally becoming civil with phil?
