[dan]

the dull morning of october was cloudy, the temperature was only nineteen degrees celsius.

not to cold and not to hot, it was brisk. this day particularly seemed weird to dan, he just couldn't place a finger on why.

he just had that gut feeling. a feeling that caused him to feel unsteady.

dan had woken up about thirty minutes later than he usually would, when he woke phil was no where to be seen.

last nights conversation caused dan to stay up thinking- thinking about how the normal 'angry' phil had disappeared for the first time since he's met him.

and dan continued to think about it as he slipped on some black jeans paired with an unbuttoned flannel and a black t-shirt.

dan didn't even bother trying to fix his mess of a hair and walked downstairs. he entered the kitchen and saw the smiling faces of helen and matthew.

phil was sat around the island mindlessly scrolling through his phone, he was dressed in white jeans and a yellow t-shirt.

"hey doll." helen began as dan walkied in, "how are you doing?" she continued. her eyes were wider than usual, and she looked slightly concerned.

dans eyebrow's furrowed, "i'm fine?" he questioned slightly. truly he didn't even know the answer, his mind was crowded.

helen seemed to sigh in relief, "oh well, there's coffee on the pot and i'll be driving you two to school in the next 5!" she piped up. giving dan a reassuring smile.

dan mumbled 'ok' and shuffled over to the coffee pot.

phil didn't cast a look- not even a glance towards dan, was phil just going to ignore the conversation they had last night? and go back to being his same shitty self?

dan shook his head and prepared his usual coffee.

dan smiled at his grandma, who smiled back almost too quickly. dans mind was racing.

everybody around him seemed, different. had dan missed something? or was it just him being paranoid or something?

the drive to school dan had sat in the front, phil sat in the back constantly kicking dans chair like a five year old on an airplane.

phil had refused to come at first and planned on not coming at all, but helen had convinced him to and phil finally obliged.

when helen dropped the boys off, phil got out immediately and walked towards some group of people.

as dan opened the car door helen grabbed his wrist lightly, "i want you home right after school, no hanging out with friends ok?" she confirmed.

"ok?" dan said, but it sounded more like a question. helens eyes flashed of worry but she shook her head slightly and smiled.

"have a good day at school honey." helen smiled softly, dan nodded and grabbed his bag before exiting the car.

his grandma drove off and dans eyes wondered to find phil, when he found the familiar black scruff of hair.

dan peacefully walked towards him, thinking about last night's conversation; how things may have changed.

once dan had reached phil, phil's eyes didn't dade to move from the sidewalk. "hey phil!" dan cheered, smiling at him.

phil didn't move a limb, he walked past dan without a care. dan raised his eyebrow at him and huffed.

"so last night you talked to me, treated me like an actual person for once but now you aren't?" dan accused, phil didn't respond- just pursed his lips together.

it took a moment for phil to finally open his mouth, "why the hell are you talking to me, can't you see i'm trying to get away from you?" he growled.

dan stopped in his tracks, phil stopped and turned to dan. "what the heck phil! last night you were so nice to me and- and now you're acting like i'm not even here!" dan complained, trying to stop phil in his tracks.

phil laughed at him, "i was high you fucking idiot, i didn't mean anything i said last night." phil retaliated.

dans hands fumbled and sighed, "all i want to be is friends with you since we have to live together!" he huffed.

phil rolled his eyes and began to walk away. leaving dan standing there, glaring at him from behind.

the bell had finally rang and another day of school was done. dan was outraged the whole day about phil. but still couldn't take his mind off it.

elliot had been home with a cold, same with carrie. dan had tried to hangout with tessa, but she had band practice. and hanging out with emma wasn't particularly in dans wants today.

he felt cold, and miserable. dan sighed as he began the walk home, the weather seemed to be getting colder and colder each day now.

"fuck," dan shivered, as rain began to fall freely from the sky.

puddles began to form quickly and as dan sped up it seemed as if the rain did to. he was only a few minutes from home at this point, but his mind wondered to phil. he had only come to school in a shirt, he's probably soaking.

dan shook his head, why would he be thinking about phil's needs? dans curls were soaking, water droplets falling down his freckled face.

as he turned into an alley way before he could see his street, there was two men greeting eachother in an alley way. shaking hands firmly.

dan stopped swiftly in his tracks, uneasy of the men infront of him. as one of them was phil, the only reason dan knew this from first sight is because his piercing blue eyes caught his.

dan heard phil mutter something to the guy, the guy who had met dan a couple days ago, charlie. dans eyes widened. how do they know eachother?

dan gulped and put his head down, swiftly walking, hoping that the two would just ignore him.

"oh hey doll dace, didn't expect you to be around here." charlie piped as dan approached. charlie let go of phils hand and put his hands in his pockets.

"where are you off too? sure you don't want to come back to mine, you still with that boyfriend of yours?" charlie continued, at this point phil had a scowl on his face. dan couldn't defer if it was because of charlie, or his own presence.

"uh, no-no thanks." dans voice shook, "i'll just be going home now." he said, trying to push by the boys who seemed to be taking up the whole alleyway.

as dan walked away he heard phil dismissing the man. footsteps that splashed in the puddles caught up to him rather quickly.

dan looked to his side only to see phil, his raven hair was dripping wet. and it seemed as if his eyes were piercing into dans soul.

"how do you know charlie?" phil stated.

"what?" dan questioned.

"i said how the fuck do you know him?" phil spat, pushing dan up against the fence. gripping his backpack, practically lifting him off the ground.

dan gulped, "i-i went out on a walk looking for you and i met him then!" dan basically cried out, his voice cracked and he winced.

phils face went through several emotions until it was a scowl, he released dans backpack straps almost immediately.

"don't ever talk to him again." phil declared, looking down on dan.

dan huffed, "you don't have authority-" he began to snap back, before seeing the anger in phil's eyes.

"i wont." dan stated. he basically sprinted away before phil could get in another word.

what the fuck. was that.
